Your Community Update
Trends in our Community
On April 20th, Bainbridge Community Foundation gave a presentation on its upcoming State of the Sector Report: A View of Our Community. In this forthcoming report, you will find:

  • An analysis of our community highlighting recent statistics on affordability and mental health
  • Results from BCF's Annual Nonprofit Survey, how local nonprofits support our community, and the state of these organizations
  • The role of BCF in supporting local nonprofits and the broader public
The report is expected to be published in the coming months. To read last year's report click here. Contact us at media@bainbridgecf.org if you want a printed version sent to your home once it has been released.
Bainbridge Gives is Now Open!
Bainbridge Gives, a critical part of BCF's Community Grants Cycle (CGC), is an
opportunity for island residents to support causes that matter most to them.
Whether priorities lie in providing basic needs for neighbors, creating opportunities
for traditionally underserved populations, or supporting creative new initiatives
across all sectors, Bainbridge Gives allows for everyone in our community to
participate in strengthening our community.

The applications listed on www.BainbridgeGives.org (the CGC's online grant catalog) have been vetted and are recommended for funding by 50 volunteers from our community. This year we received 61 applications from all sectors, and the BCF grants evaluation team approved all applications for a total of over $525,000 in requests.

BCF receives more requests from the Community Grants Cycle than we can fund on our own. From now through June 15th, www.BainbridgeGives.org is live! Support your favorite grant request by making a tax-deductible gift via credit card.

Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see pictures and read stories about this year's proposals!

NOTE: BCF covers credit card transaction fees and and 100% of your donation goes directly to the grant request. If you have a charitable giving fund with BCF (or elsewhere) and would like to partner in supporting these requests, we’re happy to assist. Please contact Debbie Kuffel (debbie@bainbridgecf.org), with any questions.
Your Taxes in the News
Qualified Charitable Distributions, or “QCDs,” have been in the news a lot lately. But what are QCDs, exactly?

QCDs allow individuals who are 70½ years old or older to donate up to $100,000 total to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions. In short, you can be charitable, help your community, and get a tax break all at the same time.
For those of you who may already know about QCDs and want to read the latest news, there is proposed SECURE Act 2.0 legislation that passed the House of Representatives in March and is now pending in the Senate. In the proposed legislation, QCDs would be indexed for inflation and would allow a client to make a one-time QCD of up to $50,000 to a charitable remainder trust or other split-interest entity. Please talk to your financial advisor about these further, as proper planning will help avoid troublesome tax pitfalls.
In addition to supporting BCF directly, you can use your QCD to support important community initiatives, including Bainbridge Gives described above! Please don't hesitate to contact us if you would like to learn more.
