Industry Spotlight!
Accounting Services

The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service are providing special tax filing and payment relief to individuals and businesses in response to the COVID-19 Outbreak. The filing deadline for tax returns has been extended from April 15 to July 15, 2020. The IRS urges taxpayers who are owed a refund to file as quickly as possible. For those who can't file by the July 15, 2020 deadline, the IRS reminds individual taxpayers that everyone is eligible to request an extension to file their return.
Our Chamber members are happy to assist you with any questions that you might have. They can be reached via phone, mail or email.

Motorists traveling by the Chopin Plaza traffic island at Milwaukee and Elston avenues may be wondering why the holiday lights are on at night — four months after Christmas.
The lights were recently reactivated as a symbol of hope during the pandemic.
“It’s a reset. We just wanted to bring it back to Christmas …maybe give you a little reminder of happier times,” Gladstone Park Chamber board member John Garrido said. Each November the association and the Gladstone Park Neighborhood Association decorate the traffic island, which is named after the composer Frederic Chopin.
Alderman Samantha Nugent (39th) assisted with efforts to get the city to turn the electricity for the lights back on. Plans call for the lights to come at night until the crisis is over.
The early morning snow of April 17 combined with the lights made for a picturesque setting on the island. “I guess Mother Nature takes ‘reset’ requests literally,” Garrido said.

Due to social distancing requirements, our physical office is closed. Nonetheless, we have been busier than ever and implemented a seven day a week schedule to ensure residents' questions and concerns are addressed quickly. As always, we are available to assist with service requests and help with any Ward related business.
Additionally, my work as a member of the City Council continues. City Council has transitioned to virtual meetings, and we are working to respond quickly and thoughtfully to the ever-changing needs of Chicagoans.
Supporting our businesses in the 39th Ward is vital at this time. My office is in constant contact with chamber leaders and business owners. The
Gladstone Park
Chamber of Commerce is a great resource and
Cathy is a tremendous advocate for our community.
We publish a weekly "Dine in 39" guide encouraging folks to order food from the Ward. If you have specials, or news to share in the newsletter, please share it with our office at
Ward39@CityOfChicago.org
and we will gladly add it to an upcoming edition.
Supporting our 39th Ward local businesses is another way to strengthen our community. Show your support by ordering takeout or delivery, purchasing gift cards, or donating to the employee funds of our neighborhood's restaurants and businesses.
My office is here to support you during this time. I wish you all good health and wellness.
Very truly yours,
Alderman Samantha Nugent
