COMMENTS FROM THE EDITOR: Spring is a wonderful time of year in the world of real estate as blossoming flowers bring new life to outdoor spaces and market activity starts to pick up. As we move into summer, the demand for buying and selling homes keeps increasing, providing endless opportunities for those looking to purchase or sell their properties. As the weather starts to heat up, potential buyers begin to explore new neighborhoods and properties, searching for their dream home. Spring and summer bring longer days and warmer weather, making it the perfect time to showcase homes to buyers and make the most of the beautiful outdoor areas. With the vibrant energy of the season, it's an exciting time for real estate. Want to know what your house is worth and what is going on in your neighborhood?

What's Happening Around Town?
|
Hank Williams, Jr. will be performing at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on Friday, May 12 at 7 pm. He will be joined by Old Crow Medicine Show and Pillbox Patti. If you haven't been to a show at the Amp yet, be sure to check it out! It is a fantastic venue where every seat is a great seat!
Don't miss the final series of the 2023 UA baseball season. They will be playing Ole Miss at home in Sewell Thomas Stadium on May 18-20. The games are at 6 pm on Thursday and Friday and 2 pm on Saturday. For ticket information, visit rolltide.com.
The Saturday Art Market is held the third Saturday of each month from 9:30 am-2 pm at Kentuck's Courtyard of Wonders in Downtown Northport. Come shop local artists and let your kids explore the drum cart and sidewalk chalk. There is also a small $2 craft you and your little ones can enjoy. The market is free (and family-friendly) to attend, but we always encourage you to support our local artists! Find out more at kentuck.org.

Get Ready for Summer Checklist
|
As we gear up for barbeques and more time spent outside, May is a great time to spruce up some of those outdoor spaces. May is also electrical safety month, so it's a great time to remember to be proactive about the safety of your home. Use this handy checklist from realestatespice.com to do both:
- Check outlets, cords, and power strips for signs of damage
- Patch concrete sidewalks and pathways
- Check outdoor lighting
- Check and repair fences and gates
- Test your water heater's pressure relief valve
- Deep clean your grill
- Check for leaks under the sinks
- Clean your exterior doors and garage doors
- Wash your deck

Global Corner:
Scarcity Pays Off in Mexico
|
Mexico is home to beautiful beaches, incredible weather, and delicious food. It is a highly sought-after vacation destination and is only growing in popularity thanks to the number of people working remotely.
Internationalliving.com lists two cities in Mexico in their top three places to invest in real estate today: Playa del Carmen and Los Cabos. In both cities, supply is low and demand is high, which means rental prices are climbing. Clients are willing to pay for amenities and to be on the beach. If you can find the right property, it's feasible to rent it out 80% or more of the time, meaning major profits.
If you are interested in investing in Mexico, or elsewhere, I can help you find a real estate agent who is the expert in that area!

Having friends and family over for a Memorial Day cookout? This light and summery drink from thepioneerwoman.com is a perfect addition to whatever you are throwing on the grill.
This recipe serves 18-24, but can easily be scaled down.
|
|
1 whole medium seedless watermelon, washed
6 bottles (750 ml bottles) rosé wine, chilled
1 bottle (750 ml bottle) champagne, sparkling wine, or Moscato, chilled
|
|
- Several hours before serving, slice 2-3 inch slabs of rind from around the outside of the watermelon, making sure there's plenty of red fruit attached.
- Slice the rind into 2-inch strips, then cut the strips in the other direction to make large chunks.
- Add the chunks into a large vat and add the rose wine.
- Cover the vat and stick it in the fridge to let it chill for at least 6 hours---more if you can!
- Right before serving, stir in the chilled Champagne, sparkling wine, or moscato.
- Optional: serve a piece of soaked watermelon in each glass for an extra treat!
