And yes, not terrible news on the budget front! Things are looking more manageable than anticipated, which puts us in a good position to focus on what we do best: empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full, meaningful lives.

Our leadership team is digging into our new board approved Strategic Plan. We look forward reexamining the foundations of our organization, looking at processes and procedures, and continuing to nurture the culture at The Arc of Howard County as on of support, collaboration and accountability! The future is looking bright, and I’m so thankful to be on this journey with all of you.

Employment Services

Mahmood got a new job at Weis!!! Mahmood worked closely with his employment specialist to look for meaningful employment. He finally landed a job that was interesting to him, and is enjoying contributing to people's shopping experience at Weis.

Introduction to Employment groups continue to build on their employment skills completing job at their volunteer sites. Practicing step by step instructions and enhancing their listening skills are only a few of the skills built upon daily!

People served by The Arc, their family members, staff, volunteers, members of the community, local businesses and other nonprofits are all encouraged to join The Friends of The Arc. When public funding is not enough, we depend on contributions from memberships to help us continue to provide our services.

By joining our network of more than 140,000 members and 730 affiliated chapters across the country, you become connected to the largest grassroots movement to protect the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Members work together to ensure that sufficient resources are available to meet the needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in every community in our nation.
