Chamber Chat Newsletter

The year is picking up speed and moving right along at a steady pace and the same can be said for the Chamber calendar of events.
As always, we begin our monthly update with a report of our monthly Breakfast Club Networking at Brother's which took place as scheduled on the first Thursday of the month May 5th. The mingling of old acquaintances and new attendees provides for some lively networking and conversation. Why not find out for yourself what an enjoyable event this is and join us next month on Thursday June 2! Hope to see you there!

We have a very busy schedule coming up over the next few weeks/months and I want to highlight those for you now to ensure they get added to your calendar.

Hopefully, you have taken notice of our Second Annual Chamber Bowling Ball Fundraiser coming in a few weeks! This popular event was put on hold for a couple of years due to COVID but it’s back and we expect this year to be better than before. We are hosting this year’s event right here in Wakefield at the Wakefield Bowladrome. There will be competition, awards, pizza from Charlie’s on Main and the Dockside, refreshments and I’m sure a lot of funny moments occurring on the various competing teams. The lanes are filling up quickly – so don’t miss out – get your team registered today!! Who knows maybe YOU could be this year’s Chamber Bowling CHAMPION!! Register HERE!

CHAMBER ANNUAL MEETING – please be sure to mark your calendar for Thursday, June16, 2022 at the Four Points Sheraton for the Chamber Annual Meeting. We will be presenting annual reports, Chamber Awards including the Business of the Year, election of new Directors and Officers and a VERY special keynote speaker. We are honored to be able to announce to you that we will be presenting - The USS Constitution’s first female commanding officer in its 224-year history: Cmdr. Billie Farrell!

Cmdr. Billie Farrell is the 77th commanding officer of USS Constitution, Cmdr. Farrell will become the first woman to serve as captain in the ship's 224-year history, dating back to 1797.

This will be an exciting and historic event for the Chamber and we hope you will join us in welcoming Cmdr. Farrrell to the Wakefield Lynnfield community. An announcement for registration and tickets sales will be coming soon – so stayed tuned!

In July what better way to celebrate the 4th of July than with fireworks? In this case “Comedy Fireworks” with Lenny Clark headlining a group of three comedians for a Chamber Comedy night on Thursday evening July 7 hosted by Prince Pizzeria “Giggle Comedy Club” (one of our members). Be sure to stay tuned for more details coming soon – this is an event not to be missed.

We are very excited to share that the Chamber, with the assistance of Chamber member Hawk Visuals has created a new promotional video to highlight the benefits of Chamber membership and provide increased visibility for the Chamber. Please take a moment to watch this new Chamber membership tool and be sure to share with your contacts and friends.

Now this is just another reminder for you that there are always changes and important facts of information coming forth from the Town of Wakefield. While the Chamber does its best to bring these newsworthy events to your attention as quickly as we can, we still highly recommend that you subscribe to the town’s listserv as the town sends out notifications on upcoming public meetings all the time. Please find more information here on joining: https://www.wakefield.ma.us/subscribe.
This would be very helpful in staying up-to-date on what is going on in town. We also recommend following the town's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TownofWakefieldMA

Plus remember that while COVID may be subsiding in some ways, it is still with us and continues to be a very serious health threat. Please be safe and stay current with the ever-changing COVID conditions around you. The State continues to update its COVID public information and provides some valuable information regarding how to prepare and be proactive in protecting yourself and your business from the dangers of COVID. Please review this COVID-19 Preparedness Checklist - This webpage hosts a number of PDF fliers in English and Spanish (with more translations to follow) that can be printed and posted, and which feature a QR code to direct folks back to the mass.gov/CovidVaccine webpage that has helpful information regarding vaccines, testing, therapeutics and other mitigation tools.

Remember, if you wish information on how to access COVID test kits from the Town of Wakefield please follow this link: https://www.wakefield.ma.us/home/news/covid-tests-available-for-local-businesses

Thank you all once again for continuing to support your Chamber.

Be safe everyone,
