QUART ER 4, ISSUE 9

Dear CCA Parents,

Spring is here  to see and feel God's love, beauty and peace. During this time of unrest in our cities, let us pray for peace, as violence permeates the streets of our neighboring Baltimore. May the peace of God that transcends all understanding guard the hearts and minds of those effected by this crisis. We must remind our children that God is love and that there is no place for violence.

Turn from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it

 -Psalm 34:14

"Humility" is our May character trait. In the Bible humility or humbleness is a quality of being courteous and respectful of others.  Humility is also the quality that lets us go more than halfway to meet the demands and needs of others.

WIN!

"God opposes the proud but
shows favor to the humble. "

SCIENCE FAIR
The 2015 CCA Science fair was a tremendous success. E lementary school science fair projects expose kids to a broad range of opportunities for scientific inquiry, arming them with the tools and knowledge they need to answer their questions about the world around them. The school science experiments presented by our students were a great way to demonstrate important concepts in earth science, biology, physics and chemistry. Thanks to the hard work of dedicated teachers and parents for supporting our children in yielding enlightening understanding, knowledge and results in science. We are also proud of our students for their hard work and giving excellent presentations on their projects. Thanks to our volunteers who evaluated the science fair projects for their time and effort.

    STUDENT TESTING

In the month of April CCA students were tested on student achievement and learning with a full range of research-based

standardized achievement tests. We administered the TerraNova  3, ACSI Edition which is an authentic assessment of the new state standards to Grades K5-5. This is a full battery of constructed-response and selected-response test items that provides detailed diagnostic information on students' basic and applied skills in Reading, Math, Language, Science and Social Studies. We appreciate our parents who made sure that their children were in school on time and ready to take the test. The results will be provided as they come back to the school.

MAY 4-8, 2015
Teacher Appreciation Week  is the perfect time to personally thank your students' teachers for their sacrifices and support for children throughout the year. The week offers principals, students, and parents a special opportunity to recognize the hard work teachers do all year long. Join us in appreciating our teachers who teach, inspire,
and motivate our children to develop spiritually. You may want to send a personal note of appreciation or a small gift of appreciation. There will be other PTA activities to show our ap preciation to our teachers.

May is  m o nth of celebrating those who  c ontribute to the care of childr en. Mother's Day is a  celebratio n honoring m
others , as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It  is observed the second Sunday in May. We want our children to understand and appreciate that mom spends all year takin g care of her family and they should take this opportunity to say thank you and shower her with love.

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

"Many women do nobel things, but you surpass them all."
Proverbs 31:28-29
