Dear Friends,

We hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the beautiful spring season! We have so many exciting updates from this past month to share. Here at The CARE Center, May has been a month of service, growth, and exciting preparations for the future. As usual, we’ve been bustling with activities and events aimed at empowering our community. Your support and involvement have been the backbone of our success, and we can't wait to let you in on all the beautiful things happening here.

We have begun the final countdown to our summer camps, kicking off on Monday, June 3rd! We’re eager to welcome around 300 children for four weeks of excitement and learning across three locations. Please keep our campers and our staff in your prayers throughout next month to ensure everyone has a wonderful, safe and successful summer!

We’re excited to announce a new event for our local high school students and young adults! We’re creating an empowering and educational one-stop shop for parents and students to learn about employment, interning, and financial preparation for college. Be sure to save the date for September 7th, 2024, and read below for more details!

Don’t forget to reserve your spot for our exciting upcoming six-week book study as well! Based on the book When Helping Hurts, we’ll explore a powerful biblical framework for poverty alleviation. Below are more details about this exciting opportunity and the registration link. Anyone is welcome to join!

We already can’t wait to see the blessings the latter half of 2024 will bring to our community. If you have any questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to contact our team at any time. Thank you for your continued support, and here's to another wonderful month!

Warm regards,

“'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ' “(Jeremiah 29:11). This is a reminder to all our graduates that God has a promising and hopeful plan for their lives.

Save the date for September 7th because we have an exciting new event for our local high school students! We’re creating a one-stop shop for both parents and students to learn about employment, interning, and financial preparation for college.

This day will be focused on empowerment and education. The event will provide excellent opportunities for local employers to meet the community and for you to learn about employment opportunities. Our various training sessions will also empower families to prepare for college alongside their students!

“Don’t Fret Just Prep” will take place at The CARE Center’s Ministry Building (5414 Main Dr. in New Hope). Parents and students are encouraged to come and go as they please from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Local employers wishing to set up a table or get involved, please contact Aneisha at aneisha.nolen@thecare-center.org or call our office at 256.723.2271

As you all know, our community suffered a great loss with the passing of our dear friend and volunteer, Gregg Berens. Gregg championed this golf tournament for several years to support our mission, each year raising more money than the previous year. Unfortunately, he left this earthly home on 2/28/24. We have decided to honor Gregg and his tremendous dedication to our mission by renaming this fundraising event the “Gregg Berens Memorial, I Golf Because I CARE Tournament.” Let’s make 2024 the best year yet, and make Gregg proud!

For more information about sponsoring this year’s tournament, please reach out to abridges@thecare-center.org. To sign up a team to play in this year’s tournament, register HERE.

Can’t wait to see you on the green!

All the donations we receive help to ensure food stability for our neighbors during difficult times. Thank you for your support!
