Join our Annual Family Photo Contest

Attention families: Now is the time to enter our annual photo contest! Send us your high-resolution photos to be part of our 2023 AZA Families photo collage which we feature in different awareness and outreach activities. This is our way to partner with you in celebrating the amazing things your child achieves and how proud they make you!

Prizes vary every year; last year's winners received a gift that was of special interest to their child and all submissions received a participation gift!

This year's theme is Stronger Together. At Arizona Autism United, one of our core values is bringing people together. We believe that building a community between families, staff, and our supporters is crucial to the success of not only our organization, but to the individuals and families that we serve.

Choose a great picture of your child and their supportive community, whether that be with family, friends, or one of their providers. For each photo, you will be asked to provide a brief quote that explains what your child is achieving in the photo.

See the photo above for an example and submit your entry at the link below. Creativity is encouraged! The deadline has been extended to June 15th.

Piper Trust Awards Expansion Grant for AZA United

AZA United is excited and humbled to announce a $1.3 million grant from Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust to support the expansion of AZA United’s programs and services at three new community-based locations. This expansion will greatly broaden AZA United’s reach by improving access to comprehensive care for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities, and their family members, throughout Maricopa County.

The impact of this grant support cannot be understated, as there is a year-over-year increase in autism rates. The CDC recently reported that a staggering 1 in 36 children in the U.S. has an autism spectrum disorder. With more and more local families affected by autism and related developmental disabilities each day, it is more important than ever that we improve access to the services, therapies, and supports that they need to thrive. “We are so grateful to Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust for this grant, which will help make high-quality care services for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities available to even more children and families throughout the region” said Dr. Aaron Blocher-Rubin, founder and CEO of Arizona Autism United.

Since its founding in 2006, AZA United’s mission has been to help as many families as possible with individualized supports. Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust has demonstrated once again its ongoing commitment to helping AZA realize this mission.

An ABA Treatment Philosophy for Compassionate Care

Over the last several years, treatments using the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) have evolved. Thanks to the many families and autistic adults who have received ABA services and shared their experiences, providers have gained an increased sensitivity to the needs of those we serve. Now more than ever, providers are aware of the critical importance of providing a service that is compassionate, individualized, and focused on improving the quality of life for the entire family.

AZA United’s CEO, Vice Presidents, Clinical Directors and staff supervisors are all BCBAs. Therefore, not only are we committed to upholding the professional code of ethics for behavior analysts, but we have experienced first-hand the importance of a strong partnership with families when leading an ABA Treatment program. From this perspective, our leadership team prioritizes setting policies and expectations that focus on achieving effective outcomes and creating a positive client experience, rather than being financially driven.

To make sure every family receives the best possible experience, we ensure that our BCBAs are trained to deliver services that align with our ABA treatment philosophy. Every BCBA receives training resources and mentoring opportunities that help meet our high expectations.
