United Way 2018-2019 Grant Award
Announcement, providing $1.05M to community organizations.

DUBUQUE, Iowa -

United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States (UWDATS) is excited to announce grant awards to 36 programs that support health, education and income stability across the 10-county, tristate coverage area. The anticipated number of lives impacted by these programs exceeds 50,000 local community members.

The awards made for the upcoming 2018-2019 allocation year are a result of United Way's investment model, now in its third year and includes two funding streams: Currently Sponsored Programs and New & Targeted Initiatives. New & Targeted Initiatives funding has allowed UWDATS to reach farther into our 10-county service area which includes all or parts of the following counties: Allamakee, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Jackson (IA), Carroll, Jo Daviess (IL), and Grant and Lafayette (WI).

"On behalf of our Board of Directors and our dedicated volunteers who worked diligently to read and score grants and presentations and who helped with fund-raising efforts to allow this impact work to happen, I'm very proud to share final decisions for next year's allocation to support health, education and financial stability in our community," says Danielle Peterson, UWDATS' President and CEO. "The programs selected were chosen with great care and decisions were made based on a variety of factors, including programs' ability to meet an identified community need and their capacity to demonstrate strong, measurable outcomes based on program goals."
As UWDATS continues transitioning with the investment model, the ultimate goal is to combine the Currently Sponsored Programs and the New & Targeted Initiatives funding streams. This would create one stream of funding for a competitive grant process for any nonprofit program that aligns with United Way's focus areas of health, education and income stability.
