A Word From Our Director

Greetings!

Springtime brings sunshine, flowers, and LOTS of programs and events!

Water Ski is gearing up for a wet and wild season at Modesto Reservoir, bowling continues its year-round sessions, and Golf with First Tee starts this week! New this year is Sign Language for Youth, ages 12-15 - join us to learn a new and useful way to communicate!

One-day events include Day on the Farm on Saturday, June 14, and disABILITIES Awareness Night at the Modesto Nuts on Friday, June 20. Registration links can be found in the newsletter.

A huge shout-out and thank you to Patrick Gonzales, who recently shared his son Jonathan's story at our recent fundraising Gala.

Here are his words: "Jonathan is a bright and enthusiastic young man who suffered a brain injury at a young age. Participating in Society's activities has helped him grow in ways we never thought possible. Their dedicated staff and volunteers have created a supportive environment that fosters independence, self-esteem, and joy. Society is the place where impossibilities become possible. The staff have become like family to him - providing guidance, encouragement, love, and inclusion. As a parent, it's heartwarming to see my son thrive. The Society for disABILITIES' mission to enhance the lives of people with disabilities and their caregivers is truly inspiring. Their work goes beyond just providing activities; they offer a sense of belonging and purpose. I invite you to become a part of our giving family - your gifts and contributions will help them continue to provide life-changing experiences for individuals like Jonathan. Together, we can make a difference and create a more inclusive community".

Patrick's willingness to share with the public helped communicate our mission and bring our goals to life for those in the room. Heartfelt testimonials like his are the BEST way for us to let our donors and future clients know how the Society for disABILITIES changes lives. No change is too small to be noted; we want to hear how the Society has made a difference for you and your family.

Share your thoughts and words HERE, and they will be privately sent to us. Real-life experiences that are shared can help us secure grants and gain donors, supporting us now and into the future as we work to make a difference.

We appreciate you all!!

Cathy

Artichoke Hearts

We have the perfect appetizer to bring to the next get together. These crispy parmesan artichoke hearts are the perfect balance of buttery crispiness that will deliver an explosion of flavor with just one bite.

RECIPE

Plastic Spoon Bugs

Your kiddos will love making these plastic spoon bugs! Grab different colored paint so they can take it to the next level with their buggy creations. These work well for an insect lesson or just a fun storytime.

INSTRUCTIONS

If you love strawberries, you'll have to give this no-bake strawberry tiramisu a try. This slight twist on the Italian classic dessert is the perfect treat for spring time, or any time. This will be an instant family favorite for sure.
