Our feet carry us around all day…and we take them for granted!!!
When our feet are in shoes ~ they are literally held ‘hostage’ through the mid-foot. We bend at the ankle and behind the toes (ball of the foot propels us forward)… The mid-foot though…while it contains the majority of our moving bits…not so much.
AND many of us do not take strides that puts the activity of propelling forward to our greatest benefit. Yup…your feet get exercised more fully if you propel yourself forward. Additional weight shifting is distributed across the mid foot.
Start and End your day with some simple foot rolling. Best is to ROLL on something wider than your foot. A rolling pin or a can. A tennis ball is OK…but does not allow the mid foot to spread evenly. A golf ball even less and it’s a bit too hard ~ punitive!
The arches in your feet (yes, there are several running length-wise ~ outer, inner, midline)…correlate to the low belly and gluts. Fix your feet to LIFT your seat!
There is so much more here to discover. Look for upcoming Foot, Gait, Posture Clinics at the Studio. Or ask your instructor to purposely focus on these skills during your next session.
