We will offer a special blessing and congratulations to these graduates during our worship service on Sunday, May 22.

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.  Jeremiah 33:3

Here's some good news. 'Conventional Wisdom' suggests that Christ Lutheran is one of a few communities in our region with the opportunity for growth in the future. This good news is obvious for those who love the church and call Christ Lutheran their home. It's extraordinary news when looking at the evolving landscape of religion in America. Changing cultural attitudes and generational apathy regarding faith, as well as skepticism towards the value of affiliation with established religions, leave a bleak outlook for many congregations. However, because of the good and faithful work of many over the past few years, Christ Lutheran is positioned to meet this apathy and skepticism with an answer; "Christ is real and risen and He came to set you free and give you life and life abundantly."

However, knowing that there's an opportunity isn't enough, it calls us to take the next step on our journey. Throughout scripture and the history of the church, God's people saw opportunity and sought after God for where they should go and what they should do. Your Christ Lutheran leadership; the Church Council, Day School Board and Foundation Board are responding in the same way as they gather for their second meeting to develop a vision for Christ Lutheran, as well as signpost to guide us on our way. This will take some time and work but, God is good, his love endures and his 'faithfulness to all generations.' Here are some simple reasons for having a vision:

Vision helps us focus on God's will, not our own.
Vision has the ability to call us together for God's purpose.
Vision make our purpose clear and gives us focus.
Vision helps us keep God's purpose for today, bigger than our memories of yesterday

There's more to come, but in the meantime, please pray for our Christ Lutheran community, our leaders, our staff and of course, that God would continue to give us... Vision.

See you along the way,
Pastor Mark

DAY SCHOOL NEWS
day schoo letterhead

Over the past several months, our staff and I have been busy training and preparing for our upcoming Texas Rising Star certification.  This means that we will voluntarily meet requirements that exceed the State's Minimum Child Care Licensing Standards.  Through this quality based rating       system we will demonstrate higher Director and Staff qualifications with an emphasis on caregiver-child interactions, age-appropriate curricula and activities. Nutrition and indoor/outdoor activities, along with parent involvement and education are also key quality markers.  We expect to finish up with this process and undergo a week long validation visit by the end of May.  Wish us luck, and please say a little prayer for us!

We are also starting to prepare for a re-evaluation of our Evangelical Lutheran Education Association accreditation which will culminate next spring.  Being a faith based system, we are required to cultivate faith formation in children.  With that we invite you to help us fill a wall in our entryway with various crosses.  We hope for it to resemble the lovely wall you have created near the fellowship hall.   Thank you for your prayers and support as we aspire to be our very best for the sake of children!

In Christ,
Ginny Gaskamp
