HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS BUILD HEALTHY COMMUNITIES

Network Leaders on the Move (NLOM), a collaborative group for the Dinuba Farmers Market, holds planning meetings at the Viscaya Gardens community center, our multifamily rental community that serves as the hub for the group. NLOM has been organizing a summer long Certified Farmers Market that will be held every Friday starting June 20 through July 25 in downtown Dinuba. The new Farmers Market will participate in the CalFresh, WIC and Senior Voucher programs, which allow families to purchase fresh, organic fruits and vegetables at farmers markets.

SHE staff member Roberto Garcia is part of the NLOM committee, which has connected SHE's housing programs with this broader effort to build healthy communities.

THE MEANING OF A NEW HOME
Jennifer G., who moved in to a home built by her parents in Reedley, shares a drawing of her new house and what her family's home means to her.

"In my drawing I drew the sign because it stands for the hard work and dedication my parents had to do in order to get the house. The brightness of the sun represents a brighter future for our family. I like living in my new home because I have more freedom. For example, I have more space to play. There are less rules to follow because where I used to live, they wouldn't let us go outside. I also like my new home because we could have dogs. All these symbols represent what my new home means to me".
