Madison Station Quilt Guild, Secretary’s Report
General Membership Meeting, April 11th, 2024
Location: St Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 786 Hughes Road, Madison, AL 35758
Call-to Order: Meeting was started at 6:30 pm by President Sue Bartlow
Old Business:
- A motion to approve the March meeting minutes was made, seconded and approved.
- The treasurer reported that sales from the Opportunity Quilt tickets and HQH Show Booth made $4354.00. Susan, Sonya and all who contributed and volunteered were thanked.
- Charity quilt collection for Grandparents as Parents is ongoing. Patterns are available for three-yard quilts. Completed quilts or tops can be given to Lorna. A special thank you to Jackie who has contributed 10 quilts.
- 2024 Guild Challenge: portrait quilts need to be 20” in width by 8-72” in length with a 2” hanging sleeve and three layers (top, batting, backing). Further information will be emailed and/or in the next Newsletter.
New Business:
- Our Vice President announced the Rummage Sale to be held at the June meeting. The cost for a table is $10.
- Donation gifts:
- Four members received gift cards; one each from Barb’s Sewing Center, Sweet Home Quilting, Patches and Stitches and Southern Charm Quilting.
- Three (3) donation gifts baskets were awarded.
Speaker: The evening’s speaker was Sherri Cahill who provided inspiration and examples of numerous techniques for quilt portraits. Numerous classes for portrait quilts are planned. Check your local quilt shops for details. Spots are being held for quild members for the class at Three Hens and a Chick on June 4th so call their shop for information on that class if interested.
Show-and-Tell: Seven members presented nine projects.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:28 pm.
