ACC: Provincial Labour Law Consultations Lack Balance
Earlier in April the Alberta Chambers of Commerce submitted a letter and policy resolution to Alberta's Labour Minister to inform the reviews of Alberta's Labour Relations Code and Employment Standards Act.

The ACC is deeply concerned by the absence of transparent two- way dialogue on these issues. The official period for consultation ended April 18, just five weeks after opening. Only through an online survey or written submission could businesses contribute their perspectives on these issues.

The public interest is served when Alberta's laws and regulations encourage employers to invest and operate in Alberta. The current approach to consulting businesses on the wide scope of issues under review runs contrary to providing the certainty and transparency that serve the public interest. As a result, Albertans' long term prosperity is put at risk.

The ACC will continue its advocacy on these critical issues and continue to update community chambers and corporate partners as new information becomes available.
