By popular demand, VegFest will once again be held at Eastern Market in Detroit and, based on your feedback, we added more space, more vendors, and more things to do! Join us for a fun day on Sunday, June 4 (10am-4pm).
We're bringing back cooking demos and presentations! We will also have a fun photo booth where you can show your plant-based pride. Plus, tons of free food samples, games for the kids, and nearly 100 vendors, including 10 food trucks! Right next to VegFest is Eastern Market's Sunday Market which showcases the work of local artists, cooks, jewelers, musicians, and more.
Plus, new this year, Eastern Market Brewing Co. (EMBC) will be hosting the VegFest After Party from 2pm-6pm! Stop by for $1 off your first beer. Check out this local brewery just a block from VegFest at 2515 Riopelle St.

Cooking Your Way to Good Health with Deanna
|
This month's dish was inspired by a recent trip to Italy. This pasta primavera salad is full of seasonal ingredients such as snow peas, asparagus, arugula, spinach, and green onions. You will most likely find them all at your farmers market in May. As always, Deanna's recipes are delicious and nutritious, full of vitamins A, C, E, calcium, magnesium, protein, and complex carbohydrates. Salute!
Help Get Soy Milk Added to the School Lunch Program
|
Many students do not want to drink cow's milk or are lactose intolerant. Currently, our tax dollars fund the dairy industry's monopoly over school lunches, which forces students to take a carton of cow's milk even though statistics show that 23% are thrown in the garbage unopened. Please take a few minutes and call your representative and ask them to support the ADD SOY Act (H.R. 1619), which will give students the option of choosing soy milk.
