May Has Arrived!

The end of the school year is finally here! As we celebrate our students' hard work and prep them for summer, we here at Healthy Schools would like to thank and celebrate all of our liaisons for their hard work promoting health and wellness in our school buildings! We wish you a restful and well earned summer, and look forward to our work with you next year!

Move to School Day is Here!

It’s time to gear up for our final district-wide wellness event: Move to School Day. With 17 schools already registered, the energy is building across the district. From walking school buses and movement centers to full-scale wellness days, our schools are planning incredible ways to get active. Schools who registered by April 24th will have Move to School supplies delivered to schools soon. Now is the time to plan the day to your unique school community—let's get everyone moving! We would love to see all the fun from the day!

Field Day: Keep the Momentum Going

Ready to level up the school spirit? Since Move to School Day is already getting everyone in gear, why not keep that momentum rolling right into Field Day?

It’s more than just a day out of the classroom—it’s the ultimate chance to crush some goals, high-five the whole school, and celebrate school community through pure, unadulterated play. If your current lineup of sack races and tug-of-war feels a bit "been there, done that," it’s time for a refresh. Check out these awesome resources to give your Field Day a serious glow-up!

Summer Resources for Families

Educators often hear families exclaim, "Boy, are we glad school started again!" We know that keeping students active and curious over a long break is no small feat. To help bridge the gap next year, we’ve rounded up a few go-to resources to keep families moving, learning, and engaged all summer long.

Here Comes the Sun!

As the weather heats up and that summer countdown officially begins, we’re all itching to take the fun outside. But before you head out to soak up those rays, let’s make sure your skin stays as cool as your dance moves.

We’ve teamed up with the experts at The Sun Bus to bring you the ultimate guide to staying sun-safe while you play outside with your students. These tips make sun safety fun and engaging for children.

Sun Tips for Children:

1) Make putting on sunscreen a game, such as "Connect the Sunscreen Dots."

2) Try using fun activities for sun health education such as a SunWise word search, Speedy Sun Relay Race (Grades 3-5), or Hot Potato in the Sun (Grades K-2).

3) Try sunglasses with fun shapes and colors.

4) Be a role model!

5) More resources and sun fun activities can be found at The Sun Bus or NEEF's resources page.

SOURCES OF STRENGTH HIGHLIGHT:

On April 22nd, the Jeffco Sources of Strength community gathered in the Jeffco Board Room to celebrate the work that has been done by students and their teams throughout the year. Students were individually recognized for their work, families took part in an informative session, and students participated in multiple stations that uplifted strengths from the Sources wheel. With 180 individuals present this evening, we are excited to see what the next year holds for these Sources teams!

Love Children? Love the Outdoors? ENOR-Environmental Discovery Camp is Looking for You!

Environmental Discovery Camp is a great way for students to get outside during the summer, explore different open spaces, and get exposed to environmental education topics. Scholarships and discounts are available!

Seasonal Outdoor Positions: This camp is also a great short-term summer opportunity for educators who want to get experience in an informal education setting and help educate the next generation of environmental stewards!  ENOR would love to have you apply!
