The Alliance Française of Atlanta would like to officially announce the retirement of our dear professor, Ghislaine Smith.
Ghislaine taught for 50+ years with 15
+ years having been at the Alliance Française
. Ghislaine will forever be remembered as the most spirited, caring, and passionate individual. We are so grateful for her many years of service at our organization. She has touched so many through her teachings and is without a doubt irreplaceable. We wish her a relaxing retirement with friends and family.

Annual Europe Day Luncheon. This year's topic is, "France Emergent," featuring François Asselin, Louis de Corail, Cyril Vanier, and the former Executive Director of the Alliance Française, Hélène Touré.
Panelists will discuss how French companies are increasing their presence in Atlanta and the Southeast, and how can France leverage its influence in the U.S. to improve U.S.-EU relations.

Théodore Brode is part of the Louisianan generation that discovered the French language in Canada. His ancestors were Francophone Acadians and Creoles, but the 28-year-old grew up speaking English due to a law that outlawed French in Louisiana for almost 40 years.
Theo Brode learns, speaks and fights to preserve the Cajun and Creole language.

The Alliance Française Remembers...
|
|
Monique Stutes, age 90, of Atlanta, Ga. passed away on April 26, 2018. She was born in Paris and came to the US after WWII with her GI husband, Henry Stutes, who preceded her in death. Monique taught French in Louisiana and then at the Alliance Francaise in Atlanta, where she eventually became administrative director. She is survived by 2 daughters, Christie Stutes and Karen Koehn, 2 grandsons, and 2 great grandchildren. A memorial will be held at H.M. Patterson Spring Hill at 3 PM on May 5. Monique spent many years in a cardiac rehab program and requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Piedmont Healthcare Foundation, 2001 Peachtree Road, NE Suite 400, Atlanta, Ga. 30309 or online at
