May 2019
Dear RSPA-NW Families,
May is upon us as we continue to engage in an amazing year of growth and learning. As always, we appreciate your support as we encourage our students to embrace their potential and continue working towards their goals. To do this, it is imperative that scholars are present and prepared to perform each day. Please also assure scholars are in uniform. Spirit shirts and jeans are only permissible on Fridays and special event days.
The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) will continue this month. These assessments align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and are administered to help us understand how children are progressing, academically. This data also assists with making curriculum decisions at both the district and campus level.
We want all students to do well and I am sure you will also want to support your child during the test taking process. Please help prepare your child by assuring that he/she:
·        Is well-rested;
·        Arrives to school each day on time;
·        Eats a good breakfast;
·        Receives words of encouragement;
·        Has a positive incentive to do well;
·        Maintains a positive attitude; and,
·        Understands the purpose of the test.
We expect 100% attendance on test days so please plan your child’s medical appointments around the testing schedule. Also, RSPA-NW will be closed during testing. A “closed campus” does not allow visitors or lunch-time guests on campus. Our students have worked very hard this year and we want to ensure a great experience for everyone.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. If you have questions or need additional information, please reach out to us. Thank you, once more, for entrusting your child’s education with us.

Mrs. Bonton and members of her staff hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner for campus leaders, Thursday, April 11, 2019, at the Northshore campus. Staff and volunteers met to discuss ways to strengthen their partnership and identify strategies that promote collaborations. Mrs. Bonton shared her vision for a Parent Organization and fielded questions from the group. "This is the first of quarterly meetings", said Jackie Autman, Director of Institutional Advancement. For more information about how you can get involved with your campus parent organization, please contact your Principal.
