I can’t believe it’s already May!!! I want to start off by saying thank you to all the parents who stood by us during this difficult school year. Thank you for submitting your “Intent to Returns”. I am completely humbled by the support given by our “Die Heart” parents who know what this school was built on. I hear the Northshore Campus is almost ready for our return. I know we will have a stellar year in the 2019-2020 school year!
Many thanks to Ms. Cook for all of her amazing efforts in sponsoring and coordinating the CV/NS Literacy Expo. We loved seeing all of the projects and were pleasantly pleased to see so many parents out participating in the activities! We are thrilled that this Fair provided scholars an opportunity to create projects where they investigated all the story elements. I was impressed. Hats off to our scholars!!! Check out some of their projects.

We begin this month by celebrating our wonderful staff and recognizing all mothers. The second week of May (the week of May 6-10) is Staff Appreciation Week. One of the nicest gifts a scholar or parent/caregiver can give a staff member is a letter of appreciation for a staff member’s file, a nice card, or a small token of appreciation.
Our charge is to get scholars to and from their destination safely and on time. Please continue to help us by talking with your child about behavior expectations and reporting any concerns you may have. We are sending out the bus rules for all scholars and parents to discuss. If your child is riding the shuttle bus to and from the Northshore Campus, please arrive for the bus shuttle between 6:45- 7:00 am. Also, please pick up your scholar before 4:00 p.m. After 4:15 p.m. your scholar will be taken to Crayon Club for a fee of $25.00
Scholars achieve more success when they attend school every day. We are having a school-wide competition to see which class can spell out “Perfect Attendance” first. The winning class will be rewarded with a pizza party and a Free Dress pass for an entire week!

Mrs. Bonton and members of her staff hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner for campus leaders, Thursday, April 11, 2019, at the Northshore campus. Staff and volunteers got together to discuss ways to strengthen their partnership and identify strategies that promote collaborations. Mrs. Bonton shared her vision for a Parent Organization and fielded questions from the group. "This is the first of quarterly meetings", said Jackie Autman, Director of Institutional Advancement. For more information about how you can get involved with your campus parent organization, please contact your Principal or campus organization.
Next year we will be forming our Northshore PTC. I am looking for officers and parents who would like to get this thing going. Getting more parents through the doors and increasing the amount of times parents visit and volunteer at our school will be one of our areas of focus for next year. We look forward to creating a committee of parents and teachers to find ways in which parents can become more involved. If you have ideas on boosting parent engagement or would like to sit on this committee, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org

We will host summer school at the Humble Campus this year. You should be receiving a call if your scholar is recommended for summer school because of attendance and or grades. The dates are June 10- June 25. Please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns you may have. If you received a letter, look forward to a call to meet with the grade placement committee. Thanks!
Students leave school in May full of strategies for reading and making amazing progress. Sometimes with the change in schedule and less reading over the summer we notice a marked decrease in student reading levels when they return to school in the fall. Help your child maintain his/her reading development and continue to grow by reading over the summer. We will send home a summer reading list for each grade level on the last day of school.
