SCRL News is a quarterly publication for the Stanford Campus Residential Leaseholders ("SCRL") membership that includes the homeowners of over 850 homes on the Stanford campus, on land leased from Stanford University. SCRL is an independent, non-profit community organization.

On the hunt for teddy bears, birds, and outdoor art The foothills are closed.  Yellow tape drapes the play structures and benches in the parks.  But we’re all out walking.  For many neighbors, hunting for teddy bears hiding in windows, watching birds, or exploring out-of-the-way outdoor art can make daily walks a shelter-in-place adventure. Faculty Staff Housing and LBRE Seek Leaseholder Input on Building Regulations  On February 3, more than 50 SCRL members attended a community workshop organized by Faculty Staff Housing and Lands, Buildings, and Real Estate to offer input on building regulations in the residential subdivision.  Before the university shutdown, the two offices were hoping to have a proposal for streamlined standards and procedures ready by May.  Now the goal is late summer. Wild Turkeys in the Foothills: The Next Coyotes? More wild turkeys terrorizing the foothills have some leaseholders wondering if the aggressive birds will be the next pest to make their way into the neighborhoods.  “Probably not,” says foothills guru Alan Launer, Associate Director of Conservation Planning for the university. Vintage Quilts on Display in SCRL Office Gallery When SCRL Executive Director Cindi Kingsley first saw the new SCRL office in the Littlefield Center, she didn’t see huge empty walls; she saw a potential gallery for members’ artwork.   In January, the first exhibit—vintage quilts from the collection of Keith and Amy Krehbiel—was installed.  Read more>>

New barriers on Raimundo highlight parking conflicts and issues. As the number of cars parked on Raimundo near Peter Coutts continues to grow, so do the concerns.  The recent mitigation efforts may or may not be helping. Read more>>

Competitive Election For SCRL Board Members The SCRL Board has voted to delay the SCRL Annual Meeting until it is safe to meet. Despite the delay, pursuant to the SCRL bylaws the election for Board members will take place entirely by mail.  Ballots must be postmarked by May 20, 2020 Useful Information: Member Letter from James Sweeney, President, SCRL Board SCRL 2020 Board of Directors Candidate Information SCRL Board Candidates Q & A Minutes from the 2019 Annual Meeting Sample 2020 Official Ballot Dogs Must Be Leashed With so many neighbors and children out for daily walks and bike rides in this time of coronavirus, it’s more important than ever to keep your dog leashed.  Our friends at Public Safety continue to get calls about unleashed dogs and remind us that it is a violation of Santa Clara County ordinances to have an unleashed dog in public spaces anywhere on campus or in the neighborhoods, including the greenbelt.
