FROM THE DEACONS

As we enter the month of May, I am in continual awe of our amazing church members. Our congregation has pulled together in a rebirth of Trinity Church. Since March of 2020, we have pivoted many times to stay connected with each other. Everyone jumped in with their skills and worked to make sure we could connect- from Facebook to outside church services from our cars.

Spring is a time for renewal in nature. Flowers and trees are budding, new babies are being born in nature, and all of us humans are out and about taking walks, out in our yards and venturing out in the world again. As many of us have started to come back to church, I see so many rekindled relationships as well as many new ones happening.

We have new committees, merging of some of our groups and a new sense of purpose to our church and the larger community around us. I am grateful to see all of this and the Deacons on their annual retreat felt that same sense of renewal, purpose and togetherness.

We have created a Vision Board for 2023 for Trinity Church. I hope you will take a moment to review it often, give us feedback of things you want to see for Trinity's future, and take a moment to pray about your part in the rebirth of Trinity Church.

FROM THE MUSIC DIRECTOR

Hello Trinity Community,

We have had such a wonderful Easter Season this year, especially in the field of music and worship. I hope many of you who attended a service or watched on Facebook had a positive experience. From a Parade of Palms to a Chilly Sunrise on Easter Morning, this year’s Holy Week really made an impact on my own faith. I want to extend a huge thank you to Tom & the Hand Bell Choir, the Adult Voice Choir, & the Worship Band for their hard work and extra hours for supporting the music in that week. If you have any feedback about the worship opportunities you have experienced, please share with me or a Worship Committee Member.

As we enter into the heart of Spring and the General Season of the Church Year, we plan to keep worship events engaging and fresh. Below are some important dates to keep marked in your calendars.

May 28 - Pentecost Celebration Service and Cook-out (Wear Red)

Parking lot service with energetic music followed by church lawn cook-out picnic with burgers/hotdogs and yard games. Bring Your Own Chair.

June 4 - Worship: the Musical

A unique presentation of a Sunday Service using some familiar Musical Theater songs, background and transition music, and a “Sound of Silence” sermon intermission. The goal is to support 90% of the time with music.

The Adult Choir and Worship Band are both preparing a few more special songs for the months of May and June, but will join the Hand Bell Choir in taking a Summer Break to recharge and recruit for the Fall Season. Individuals, small groups, and special requests are always welcome, but during these Summer months, I definitely will be searching for volunteers willing to share their talents and gifts with the congregation during a Sunday Morning Service. Let me know if you are interested or have suggestions.

Are you looking for a way to help our services that doesn’t put you in the “spotlight”? Are you interested in how a Sound System works? In the near future, we will be holding a one-time “Sound Tech Training” to help build a pool of volunteers who could take turns helping with sound during a service and future Coffee House Mic Nights. If you want more information or want to be added to the notification list for this event, reach out to me via email or catch me after a service.

As always, remember that the power of the church is the people. When we come together for the purpose of God’s work, great things will happen. Music brings people together.

FROM OUR SEARCH COMMITTEE

We Need You!

The Pastoral Search Committee has been busy working on the preliminary steps to calling a settled pastor. We have volunteered to spearhead this process, but we are working for you, the congregation! The committee is organizing small groups to give you updates and get your input. The small groups will be held at various dates and times in order to accommodate as many parishioners as possible. The dates we have chosen are:

  • May 17 on Zoom at 7:30pm in the evening.
  • May 24 on Zoom at 7:30pm in the evening.
  • June 7 and 14 at noon for a light lunch.
  • June 11th following worship service.

Please look these dates over and mark your calendar.

FROM OUR FAITH FORMATION DIRECTOR

It has been wonderful to see kids signing up for our programs! We will continue next month by sharing a children's time during our church service. It was an exciting month with and for our youth!

Our Community A.C.T.S group is hard at work! They are working on a middle school age dance with the proceeds being split between the Community ACTS group for operating funds and Safe Homes in Worcester.

Trinity Tots is off and running again for the Spring and it has been wonderful to see our littlest members in church.

To sign up for this great program Click here:

We need your help! In order to run a variety of programming for our youth we need volunteers. Do you enjoy being around our littlest members, love to dig in and make a difference in the community or Is it more your speed to help decorate the Trinity altar as part of our new altar-scaping or telling a story during our children's moment? Please reach out to Sherry at [email protected] or 508-254-2217

ONA / SOCIAL JUSTICE TEAM

Social Justice Conversation

Members and friends of Trinity Church are invited to “ A Conversation with an Asian American” in church after worship on Sunday, June 4, 2023. We will begin with a potluck lunch. Please bring a dish to share. I will spend 15 minutes briefly sharing my family’s history and my experiences growing up in Boston MA. I will share with you three things about me, then we will have an open Q & A conversation.

My wish is to promote harmony and understanding between all people. This is why I am opening up this rare opportunity for you to converse with a person of another race.

UPSTAIRS AND DOWNSTAIRS

BREAKFAST FELLOWSHIP

Saturday Breakfast Fellowship in May will be on the 20th. at 8:30 AM.

A couple of months ago, I was made aware of the UCC’s Daily Devotional thread. This is a resource which is available to all of us ( https://www.ucc.org/daily-devotional/ ) through the UCC’s website. The devotions are presented by the “Still Speaking Writers’ Group” in the UCC.

In May, I want us to read and talk about one of the devotions from March. The topic is “10 Things Jesus Never Said.” There isn’t much reading for it (Yay !!) so I’ll send out the link the week before we have Breakfast Fellowship. Everyone is welcome to join us for breakfast, fellowship, and discussion.

For more information or to add yourself to the Saturday Breakfast Fellowship email list, please contact Tom at [email protected]
