DEACONS GOTTA HAVE FUN, TOO!
At their annual retreat, The Board of Deacons had a lovely breakfast, a lively, productive discussion about what God is calling us to do and be at this time and some fun bowling at Sawyers!
(Beth Buckley absent)
As we boldly say on our banner and new bulletin board display, and new bulletin board display designed by Rita” “Love Always Wins”. Let’s remember that when events locally and around the world may indicate otherwise. We, at Trinity Church will and must continue to “Love Loudly”.
We will share God’s love with each other, our community and our world in all the ways that we do and more.
Thank you all. God bless you all.
Love and peace,
Lynn Garry

Hello Trinity Church Community!
I hope God has blessed you with a smooth start into the New England Spring. April seemed to fly by, but I am always excited to see the colors of the season spring from all around us! We now venture into a new month together, which means we have new opportunities to worship together, share the love of Christ, and do good for our world.
Check out what musical happenings are planned for the month of May…
-
May 3rd - The Hand Bell Choir will present a peaceful arrangement of “Let Us Break Bread Together” for Special Music just before we share Holy Communion.
-
May 10th - The Worship Band is prepared to support our Worship Service music and present their version of “Mighty to Save” by Ben Fielding, as well as a collective instrumental for the Prelude.
-
May 17th - Worship in the Park featuring a Special Music Guest. I hope everyone can make it for some great music, worship, and fellowship as we celebrate nature and all of God’s creatures.
-
May 24th - Continuing the tradition of Pentecost Sunday being a “Bells Day”, our Worship Service will include a duet performed by Anna D. and myself, and the Hand Bell Choir will present my first official hand bell composition, an arrangement of “Spirit of Gentleness".
-
May 31st - 5TH SUNDAY HYMN SING!! Bring your voices and hearts of joy as we share a music-filled service featuring hymns from our Chalice Hymnal. This service will also include a violin solo from Hai Wei W. for the prelude and a first-time ensemble (Gospel Quartet) sharing a song of my childhood, called “When All of God’s Singers Get Home”.
For this upcoming Hymn Sing service, there is no overlapping theme such as Advent or Palm Sunday. So I want to take the opportunity to bring back the “Suggest-a-Hymn”. If there is a song you would like to have included, please take a few minutes and fill out this Google Form. I will try my best to include as many of them as possible.
Our Song of the Month for May will be the Praise & Worship song “You Are My King (Amazing Love)” by Billy Foote. We also will continue to use the “3-fold Amen” (#314 in the Chalice Hymnal) to close our weekly service.
Thank you for being a supportive community. Music is meant to be shared by all, whether by creating it or experiencing it, and I believe it is the best example of making room for everyone at the table of the Lord.
Until We Meet Again,
Scott Arnold (he/him)
Music Director of
Trinity Church of Northborough

If you are willing and able to assist with this task for the summer please let any member property team members, Wally C., Paul B., Cheryl S. or Don D. know or by notifying Rita at (508) 393-8156 or trinitychurchnboro@gmail.com.

The needs of immigrant families in Northboro are ongoing. A few years ago, the Outreach Team reached out to other members of the community to form the Northboro Neighborhood Support Team to help new immigrant families resettle in Northboro.
Right now we are working with three families in many different capacities: providing friendship, financial support, help navigating social systems, and sometimes childcare and rides to appointments.
All of you know Rose and Mark, our Afghan family... read more.
Best wishes,
Jean Leif and John Posluszny

Climate Hope Affiliates
First Congregational Church (UCC) of Shrewsbury has invited Trinity members to participate in forming a Climate Hope Affiliate.
The purpose of the Climate Hope Affiliates program is to empower people of faith and conscience to address the interconnected crises of climate change and societal injustice. Recently, they were part of a successful effort to defeat the Trump administration’s proposal of cutting the budget for the Environmental Protection Agency by 55%.
Creation Justice Ministries and the United Church of Christ are equipping people in starting powerful chapters (Climate Hope Affiliates) around the country to help accelerate action. First Congregational will be holding a meeting on Wednesday May 27th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This could be a great collaboration between our churches. Please see Jean Leif if you are interested.

| | EXTERIOR RESTORATION AND MAINTANENCE TASK FORCE UPDATE | | |
PRE-CAPITAL CAMPAIGN LISTENING SESSIONS
Trinity Church’s Exterior Restoration & Maintenance Task Force is excited about the work that has already been completed around the church and the ongoing restoration and improvements of our building.
Trinity is about to embark on a major Capital Campaign to help finance these projects. In preparing for the Campaign, the Task Force is offering to meet with small groups of members and friends to answer your questions and listen to your thoughts and concerns. We have scheduled two such meetings to date:
Saturday, May 2, at 11:00 am, and Tuesday, May 5, at 7:00 pm. If you are interested in attending one of these listening sessions, please contact Rita at (508) 393-8156 or trinitychurchnboro@gmail.com We are trying to keep each group small, so we will add more sessions if necessary.
Among the completed projects are:
- Phase 1 of the tower restoration – the removal of the church spire and bell and construction of stairs and work platforms in the tower.
- Reinforcement of the roof supports above the sanctuary.
- Painting of the exterior of the building.
- Replacement of the roof over the three-story addition to the church.
Anticipated future projects to be funded with proceeds of the Capital Campaign include:
- Restoring the tower and returning the spire, and possibly the bell, to their places.
- Insulating the building. Installing the insulation will be paid by the Mass Save program, but other related expenses include installing a vapor barrier and improving drainage.
- Repairing or replacing joists supporting the southern entryway and fellowship hall floors.
- Upgrading the electrical system.
- Sandblasting and painting the fire escape.
- Replenishing the emergency capital reserves that were used to re-roof the addition.
Trinity is forming a team to lead the Capital Campaign, which will begin this summer and continue into the fall. All members and friends of Trinity will be asked to consider a gift to the Campaign. Our campaign consultant has concluded that we can achieve our goal of $500,000.
We plan to use about $250,000 of the funds as they are raised for projects other than the tower. Assuming we meet or exceed the Capital Campaign goal, restoration of the tower will be done when we have secured grant funding to supplement the Capital Campaign gifts.
