Weekly Feature, Fishing Report...

Bay Fishing Report. 5/11/17
Finally the wind and rain gave us a little break along the coast. The bay reefs in East Galveston Bay are red hot! Good numbers of nice trout are showing up on reefs along the north shoreline. We are still using live shrimp under a poppin cork about 3 ft deep. Water is in great shape and big schools of mullet are on top. There are alot of birds still working also. But some of the trout are small. Fishing should remain good and should just get better in the weeks to come. We are starting to catch some big trout on live croaker and that should bust wide open in the next couple of weeks. The south shoreline is also holding good numbers of keeper trout and slot reds. There is live bait available on Bolivar Peninsula but call first.

Folk artist, art-car artist, portrait artist, caricaturist, Bonnie Blue has done it all! She has made her career as a successful, fun, eclectic, funky, one of a kind artist. 95% of all the art materials she uses are recycled products. Bonnie’s art has been displayed in homes and offices all over the US and overseas. At least 8 homes locally in Galveston display only art by Bonnie Blue. Her art has won awards, friends, smiles and hearts everywhere. She never tires of creating new art and new ideas. Bonnie’s art has been featured twice on the Ellen Show, Great Day Houston, channel 13, 26 and 2 News and WBAL News in Baltimore as well as the David Letterman Show. She even did artwork for actor, Bill Murray. Her two award winning art-cars; the Women Rock Art-car and Zena the mermaid Art-car are an extension of her art as she promotes Art in Motion. And now, she has turned her home studio into an amazing work of art inside and out, and was featured on the Houston Weird Homes Tour . Bonnie Blue is a celebrity in her own right.

Ladies Casting for Conservation is a women’s one-day fishing tournament held in Crystal Beach, Texas on Bolivar Peninsula. This unique event brings together fishing enthusiasts and helps protect Galveston Bay’s natural resources. Now in its fifth year, the tournament has drawn interest from anglers throughout the state. This tournament is for everyone, from those fishing for the first time to those that know how to reel in a big catch! It’s a day of fun and an opportunity to learn about Galveston Bay. Both guided teams and non-guided teams are eligible.
