From community rides to long-distance events, the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance offers opportunities for cyclists of all experience levels to participate in remembrance, reflection, and connection along the Trail.

As National Bike Month comes to a close, the Alliance encourages everyone to keep the wheels turning. Get the bike out, put on a helmet, and discover the fun and benefits of cycling while continuing toward a future of health, remembrance, and togetherness.

New Ground Broken on the 9/11 Trail

Late last month, the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance joined community partners to celebrate the groundbreaking for a new segment of the 9/11 National Memorial Trail in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. This milestone reflects continued progress in expanding and strengthening connections along the Trail ahead of the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001.

This new segment represents another important step toward completing an envisioned 20-mile connection from the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP Trail) to the Flight 93 National Memorial.

The Alliance on Capitol Hill

Representatives from the Alliance joined the National Park Foundation and fellow partners on Capitol Hill last month for the 2026 Hill Day. The visit provided an opportunity to engage with congressional offices and raise awareness of the 9/11 National Memorial Trail and its growing national impact ahead of the 25th Anniversary of September 11th.

From Students' Generosity to a Lasting Trail Legacy

The generosity of Portage Elementary School students is helping shape the future of the September 11th National Memorial Trail in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. What began as a student-led fundraiser in 2021 helped build momentum toward the acquisition of 7.7 acres of property for future trail development, demonstrating the power of community partnerships and remembrance.
