BLOOM
Happy May! Those April showers sure brought beautiful blooms and lush green landscapes. I love the season of new beginnings, colors appearing everywhere, people gathering outside - its like the prequil into summertime fun: barbecues, books, beaches, bonfires, baseball and so much more. I hope this summer brings each of you sweet memories and new adventures. Maybe those adventures include trying something new with Senior Care Volunteer Network. We are always looking for new drivers and it is a wonderful way to meet some pretty special people. The kindness you share, the stories you will hear, and the gratitude in their hearts will keep you smiling all day long.
Help us kick off the summer season.
Hip Hip Hooray, our t-shirts are in! Please join us Friday, May 31st at the SCVN office from 4pm-6pm for a PIZZA and T-SHIRT pick-up party. Be sure and RSVP below, we want to have plenty of pizza and beverages. We look forward to celebrating with you. The work we are doing in the community serving seniors is one of ways that make this area such a great place to live and serve. Come learn about what is happening this summer at SCVN and how to stay connected! We hope to see you there.
Special shout-out and thank you to all those who joined us on Saturday, April 27th for our group yard day. We made many care receivers very happy with their beautiful yards and the sweet conversations that took place. There are still additional yard requests available for individuals or groups to pick up in Assisted Rides.
I want to share that I will be taking a medical leave of absence beginning Monday, June 3, for knee replacement surgery. We have a great transition plan in place. My calls and e-mails will be forwarded to Sarah Schrempf (our executive director, see I told you, you were in good hands) and then she will send to the appropriate staff member handling that while I am away.
While our summer events are a little scaled back, we still have a few events you won't want to miss. Check out the calendar below.
Thank you for your selfless service to others. I am incredibly blessed coming to work each day and I look forward to coming back in July. Keep blooming and making the world more beautiful.
Warm regards,
Kerri Sutter

Happy Spring! Thank you again to everyone who attended the transportation driver meeting at 31 North. It was a pleasure to meet so many of you.
Looking around the crowded room, I was filled with gratitude for the service you faithfully provide to others.
A meeting summary was sent out with handouts from meeting. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Current Volunteer Opportunities
We are always welcoming new volunteers to our team, however, below are some specialized needs we have.
Intake Team Join our growing team to welcome and onboard our expanding senior care receiver community. Ideal for those with a background in healthcare, hospice, or social work, this role involves meeting diverse individuals, strong communication, and attention to detail. As the first point of contact, you'll introduce them to our services and community. Commitment: 6-10 hours monthly. Training is provided. Contact Silvia, Intake Coordinator, for more details.
Lending Closet Support Help us surpass last year's record of 1,500 lent pieces of medical equipment! We need volunteers for 1-2 hours weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly to clean equipment at our office. This flexible opportunity lets you work to your own beat, plus enjoy great coffee, teas, cocoa, and occasional treats. Training is provided. Contact Yolanda, Operations & Lending Closet Coordinator, or Kerri, Volunteer Coordinator, to get involved.
