May 5–9: Advanced Open Source Training Course in The Hague, Netherland (Applications due March 31)


We're offering our advanced open source investigation course focused on violations of international criminal, humanitarian, and human rights law from May 5 – 9. This five-day course, held in partnership with the Institute for International Criminal Investigations, will take place in-person in The Hague. Course participants are trained on the methodology of the Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations, the first professional standards and guidelines for digital investigations, consistent with the practices of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. In order to take this advanced course, participants must have either taken the Foundational HRC/IICI Open Source Investigation Course (or a comparable course) or have prior experience conducting open source investigations and demonstrable skills to the level of the Foundational course. This course is aimed at investigators and analysts with more open source investigation experience. Participants will earn a certificate of course completion.

June 16–20: Foundational Open Source Training Course in Berkeley, California (Applications due April 21)


We're offering our pioneering open source investigation course focused on violations of international criminal, humanitarian, and human rights law from June 16 – 20. This five-day course, held in partnership with the Institute for International Criminal Investigations, will take place in-person in Berkeley, California. Course participants will be trained on the methodology of the Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations. In addition to digital investigation methods, this course highlights the importance of ethics, resiliency, security, and legal compliance. This course is suitable for those with limited experience in open source research or those who want to upgrade their skills to meet the standards set by the Berkeley Protocol. No experience is necessary, but prior experience as an investigator, analyst, journalist, or lawyer is preferred. Participants will earn a certificate of course completion.

June 20–27: Advanced Open Source Training Course in Berkeley, California (Applications due April 21)


We're offering our advanced open source investigation course focused on violations of international criminal, humanitarian, and human rights law from June 23 – 27. This five-day course, held in partnership with the Institute for International Criminal Investigations, will take place in-person in Berkeley, California. Course participants are trained on the methodology of the Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations. In order to take this advanced course, participants must have either taken the Foundational HRC/IICI Open Source Investigation Course (or a comparable course) or have prior experience conducting open source investigations and demonstrable skills to the level of the Foundational course. This course is aimed at investigators and analysts with more open source investigation experience. Participants will earn a certificate of course completion.
