Mickey

May Pet Of the Month

Mickey is a male Standard Poodle, nearly 9 years old, and has been using our pet sitting, overnights, dog training, and on demand at home services since 2019.

Your dog’s motto / words to live by? I would say our boy has a couple of mottos he lives his life by: A. “ I hear you, but choose to ignore you” B. “Wasn’t me!”. As in (when Mia was with us) “ Mimi and Micks….who chewed up Brianne’s luggage?”. Micks reply “ wasn’t me”. Micks, is that you on the dining room table “wasn’t me”

The Poodle Vibe: Standard Poodles are famously known to be brilliant. What’s the most 'human' thing your dog has ever done? Mickey: I love to sit on the outdoor sofa, under the big umbrella on a warm summer day. Also, sometimes on winter evenings I like to have my dinner brought to me in my parents bed.

We’ve enjoyed coaching you and Mickey in our Reactive Dog Private lessons. Every dog’s journey is different—what is one 'big win' Mickey has had recently, no matter how small? Mickey: I go on daily walks and don’t mind when people walk across the street from me while out on a stroll. I am more relaxed on our walks.

A Scent Work class pro! Does Mickey have a 'super sniffer'? What’s the weirdest thing he's ever tracked down? Mickey: Just so you know I LOVE scent class. I could go every day and be happy happy happy. My sniffer is always working on our walks and I just LOVE to smell everything. When Daddy brings pizza home, I could be up stairs snoozing in bed and I just get a whiff of that yummy pizza and Shazam I am running down the stairs with a toy in my mouth chasing down that pizza.

We provide Pet Sitting and Overnight Care services when you travel. Why is this important to you and what is the #1 thing you look for in a pet sitter to help you feel at ease while you're away? For me, knowing that my babies are safe, and comfortable in their home is the single most important thing to me. This knowledge makes travel easier. When I had to go into the office, knowing Mia, Mickey, and Wally were well cared for was key.

When engaging with a potential new sitter I look for the following: How are they with high maintenance pets? My three are very demanding. Are they reliable? Are they willing to invest time getting to know Mickey before the actual first engagement? This one is key with a dog with anxiety/reactivity.

Once the relationship is established it is very important to me that Brianne, Aurora, and now Vee are comfortable in our home. When we are gone for a week or more we want to stock their favorite food and drinks. Oftentimes we will venmo money so they can order dinner. These women are members of our family & we are thankful for the love and care they show our babies.

Quirks & Comedy: What is the funniest, most unique personality quirk Mickey has that makes you laugh every day? Mickey makes us laugh every day when he carries his babies (stuffed animals) around, takes them outside and brings them back in with him. Also, when we go to bed there are no stuffed animals in our bed. When we awake, we usually have the following: elephant, cow, squirrel, porcupine, and a hippo in bed. How Micks manages to do this I do not know. He also loves to run upstairs and come down with two toys in his mouth! Our boy loves his stuffed animals

The "Fur-Get Me Not" Factor: You have been part of our family for nearly 7 years! What is the main reason you continue to choose our team for pet care over the numerous other options in the area? It all comes down to your team. Brianne was the first team member we worked with and she is amazing! Juliet helped us grow Mickey's universe of pet sitters while patiently working with him and Aurora to build confidence on both sides. The team that supports our family, ongoing classes, private training are the elements that have made our partnership successful. When my mother unexpectedly passed away, your team was right there to help support our family. Brianne and Aurora taking care of our crew allowed me to be fully present during a challenging time

If Mickey could tell other dogs about his experience, what would he say? Well, if you know Mickey you know he always has a lot to say! I think he would say…” Do it. The ladies of fur get me not will love you long time, cuddle with you if you dont fell well, play with you in your yard, cuddle with you in bed. They will always make a bid deal of you when they come into the house and see you!" Micks would say “the more people who love us the better”. Big on da love baby!!!
