Did you know? Watering your lawn during the hottest part of the day (usually between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.) can waste up to 30% of your water due to evaporation?

🌱 Try watering early—before 6 a.m.—when it’s cooler and the wind is calm. Your plants will benefit most, your grass will stay greener, and your water bill will stay lower!

💧 Stage 1 Drought Restrictions 💧

Mustang Special Utility District has implemented a comprehensive Water Conservation Plan to ensure our customers' sustainable water use and supply. Key conservation measures include:

We are operating under Stage 1 of our Drought Contingency Plan. This stage aims for a 5% reduction in total daily water use and includes:

• Twice-a-Week Watering Schedule: Customers can water lawns and landscapes only on designated days, based on their address.

• Time-of-Day Restrictions: To minimize evaporation, watering is recommended during early morning or late evening hours.

• Prohibition of Non-Essential Water Use: Activities such as washing sidewalks, driveways, and vehicles with potable water are discouraged.

We're making significant improvements to help keep your water flowing strong and steady, and we're excited to share that these upgrades are in the final stages!

💧 Temple Dane Well

A new well has been added to provide a reliable water source for homes, lawns, and local businesses. It will add up to 1,000 gallons per minute to our system and help serve approximately 26,000 Mustang customers.

🚰 2-Million-Gallon Storage Tank (2MG GST)

This new tank will help ensure a steady water supply for all customers and be a backup for our current tank.

⚙️ Pump Station Upgrades

New, larger pumps are being installed to help improve water pressure and make the system more energy efficient.

🚫💦 Don’t Water the Sidewalk – It’s Not Thirsty!

Ever seen a sprinkler doing the cha-cha—twisting and spinning while soaking the sidewalk, driveway, or even the neighbor’s fence? It happens more than you think!

Here’s the scoop: When sprinklers are misaligned or poorly placed, clean, treated water waters the concrete instead of your lawn. Not only is this a waste, but it can also cause slippery surfaces and damage to sidewalks over time. Yikes!

💡 Fun Fact: Redirecting your sprinkler heads only to hit grass and plants can save up to 5,000 gallons of water per year—per household! That’s enough to fill a small backyard pool or run your dishwasher over 160 times.
