Library News
Celebrating 119 Years!
On May 2nd, 1900 Grand Forks City Council established the library levy and appointed the first library board.

The library opened to the public three days later on May 5th and was in the Odd Fellows Temple. Three years later in 1903, after receiving a donation in 1901, and purchasing land in 1902, the library opened in downtown Grand Forks in the Carnegie building. On May 22nd of 1972, the Grand Forks Public Library opened in our current building.

This year marks 119 years of serving our community and we couldn’t be more proud of our journey and continued innovation to be the best library that we can be for Grand Forks & Grand Forks County! We invite everyone to join us on May 18th from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM to celebrate this milestone!!
