The Price & Tucker residence (71 N. Central Ave) is one of Florence's historic gems. The well-preserved three-room house, was built in 1888 for Alphonso Price, a farmer from Casa Grande. The original portion of the house is built of adobe, with later additions made of brick (south side) and cement block (east side). The house is in the Colonial Revival style, with Craftsman styling on the doors and windows.
A later significant resident was Dr. William Tucker, who served as a physician in Pinal County for 57 years and on the Florence Town Council for 26 years. During WWII, he served with the 46th field hospital, supporting the First Army across Europe. While receiving the A.H. Robins award in 1989 for Outstanding Community Service, it was noted that he was the first doctor to practice in the state for more than 50 years. Dr. Tucker was presented with the square grand piano that belonged to the Clarke family by a grateful community as appreciation for his service. This piano was later donated to the Pinal County Historical Museum where it is currently on display.
