    First Friday at the SBMA | May 3 | 5:00 - 7:30 p.m.

    Landscape artist Michael Chesley Johnson, sponsored by the Northern Indiana Pastel Society, will talk at 6:15 p.m. about his oil and soft pastel landscape paintings. Johnson's presentation dovetails with the exhibition Portals, closing this Sunday in the Jerome J. Crowley Community Gallery.

    Join Curator of Collections Kim Hoffmann at 7:00 p.m.in the Warner Gallery to walk and talk about Makers and Champions: South Bend's Rich Artistic Legacy, 1841 - Present. This exhibition showcases important artists, people, and institutions that contributed to the rich artistic heritage of South Bend and the surrounding area.

    Step into Mary King's world of Beautiful Industry continuing in the Art League Gallery.

    Stop by The Dot Shop and get Mom her gift!

    The Dot Shop, located just inside our front doors is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon - 5:00 p.m., and this First Friday, until 7:30 p.m. Choose from jewelry, wearable textiles, functional pottery, and a unique selection of paintings and prints to make her day.

    MMOTI12 Mark the Calendar: Meet Me on the Island July 5
    Celebrate Summer!

    Plan to join us for an evening of art, music and mingling on Island Park behind Century Center. Elwood Splinters Blues Band will set the mood for this annual event hosted by SBMA, 88.1 WVPE and Century Center.

    SBMA members will receive tickets in the mail.

    About Us
    The SBMA is located in downtown South Bend, Indiana, in the Century Center, 120 South Saint Joseph Street. The galleries are open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5 for non members.

    Now in its 66th year of operation, the SBMA is the public art museum for the greater South Bend area. The Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums and occupies almost 40,000 square feet in South Bend, Indiana's Century Center, a cultural/convention complex designed by Philip Johnson and John Burgee. Collections, exhibitions and education programs focus on contemporary and historical American art, especially from the Midwestern region.
