As the semester winds its way to a close, we offer hearty congratulations to members of the Class of 2022! As always, the approach of Commencement brings with it an opportunity to look both to the future and to reflect upon the past. In this issue we proudly feature an article introducing the Museum’s new Student Ambassador program. Another article reintroduces our audiences to the first ancient Greek vase to enter the Museum’s holdings, a work featured in the recently opened exhibition, Antiquity & America: The Ancient Mediterranean in the United States. We also take advantage of this opportunity to celebrate the special legacy of Esta and Hilton Kramer. We are deeply grateful for the exceptional works of art they have recently bequeathed to the Museum. Finally, May represents a bridge into the summer season. On that note, we invite you to enjoy a new exhibition that opens on May 26th, At First Light: Photographs of Maine Artist Studios and Homes by Walter Smalling. Smalling’s remarkable pictures of the homes of notable Maine artists will be complemented in June by the exhibition At First Light: Two Centuries of Artists in Maine.

We look forward to seeing you in the galleries!
