Blessings these days.

As we live with the drought, the fires, broken hearts, and so many crises we sometimes wonder about the way forward.

Cairns along the way direct us.

Cairns are not answers, but community        members we walk with.

Cairns are children who remind us of joy       and wonder.

Cairns are those many wise human and other companions who share with us courage             and the way forward.

Cairns are deep spiritual truths in our religious paths to guide us.

As our hearts break with the fires in our region and the many losses our neighbors face, we turn to the Cairns for inspiration, courage and wisdom. We pray for those in harms way and fire fighters. We dig into our souls that me may live and act in hope and with bold actions to address climate change and the consequences.

We pray for rain and celebrate the gift of water with San Isidro celebrations in Taos and Albuquerque. Check our website calendar for details at www.nm-ipl.org.

Thank you to the more than 100 faith leaders, people of conscience and young adults who have signed our letter for bold climate action that Arcelia Isais-Gastelum (IPL board member) and myself will deliver to our federal congressional delegation next week as we attend our national IPL meeting in DC.  Please check is out www.nm-ipl.org and sign by noon Friday, May 13 for DC delivery.  We will gather signers until the end of the month to send to more local leaders.  SEND YOUR NAME OR THOSE YOU COLLECT, ID AND LOCATION TO joan@nm-ipl.org.  THANK YOU!!!

Finally, we will keep you posted of possible service opportunities to assist our neighbors and our watersheds suffering from the fires.  Watch our website and mailings over the next weeks.

In love, prayers and action,

Sr. Joan Brown
