Dear Friend of the House,

Excitement is building! After years of careful planning and preparation, we're almost ready to break ground on our long-awaited 52,000 square-foot House expansion project.

This important milestone underscores how much our expansion is truly a community effort- we simply could not take on a project of this magnitude without the support, skills, and dedication of our many friends and partners.

We have assembled an amazing team to lead the charge: Vance Brown Inc, responsible for so many wonderful projects at Stanford University, is our builder. Bob McIntire, CEO of Nova Partners, is managing the construction project. Helen Wilmot, RMHS board member and VP of General Services at Stanford Hospital, is chairing our Building Committee. Brad O'Brien, RMHS board member and partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, is handling contracts and legal review.  Stanford University has graciously donated the land parcel adjacent to our current building. Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford has been our true partner in planning and defining the needs for the project.

And you - our friends, volunteers, donors, and supporters - are providing the time, energy, and resources we need to make this expansion a reality.

We thank you for your ongoing support as we continue the fundraising and focused effort necessary to ensure the success of this monumental project. Please visit our Hope is Growing website  for the latest news and updates, and stay tuned this summer as we announce a series of exciting activities to celebrate our groundbreaking.

We invite everyone in our extended House family to get involved and learn more about what we do, and to celebrate what we, as a community, are building together.

Warm regards,

Laura Boudreau

Home is Where the Heart is
Mona and Genevieve (GG) Santoya. GG received a new heart on March 15, 2014.
Back in February, we featured a story about Genevieve (GG) and the Santoya family who first came to stay at the House shortly after GG experienced complete heart failure in July 2013 and was placed on a Berlin heart at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford while she awaited a transplant.

Happily, after eight months of waiting and hoping, GG received a new heart on March 15. A little more than two weeks after her transplant, GG rejoined her mother, father, four sisters, and one brother to recover at the House.

Since then, GG has been growing stronger and healthier each day and has become quite adept at captivating everyone she meets with her adorable smile and enthusiastic greeting of "hi!"

If all goes well at her next biopsy appointment, which mom Mona and GG's doctors feel certain will be the case, little GG and her family will be able to return home to Oregon some time next month.

In the foreseeable future, GG will be returning to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford several times a year for her follow up care. We all look forward to seeing GG grow and thrive in the years to come.
