MAY IS ALS Awareness Month

This May, in honor of ALS Awareness Month, The Angel Fund for ALS Research is asking our Angel Fund family to come together with urgency, compassion, and determination to “Step Up to Cure ALS.” Behind every diagnosis of ALS —also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease—is a person, a family, and a story that cannot wait.

ALS is a relentless and progressive neurodegenerative disease that slowly robs individuals of their ability to move, speak, eat, and ultimately breathe. There is no cure. For families facing ALS, time becomes the most precious—and most limited—resource.

For more than 25 years, The Angel Fund has stood beside those families, turning heartbreak into action by funding promising, independent research.. Every dollar raised is driven by one goal: to find a treatment and cure for ALS.

That commitment is making a real difference. In the past year alone, The Angel Fund has donated $800,000 to ALS research, contributing to an extraordinary $2.3 million over the past three years—fueling critical discoveries and giving researchers the resources they need to move the research forward. Check out the researcher updates below.

This month is about more than awareness. It’s about action. It’s about standing with families and friends who are in the fight of their lives and refusing to accept that there isn’t a cure—yet.

The message is simple but powerful: we cannot wait. Every step forward brings us closer to treatments, to answers, and ultimately, to a cure.

For families facing ALS today, hope cannot be delayed.
