May is Melanoma Awareness Month
May, Melanoma Month raises awareness for the very serious and potentially deadly form of skin cancer. Unfortunately diagnoses continue to rise especially in Canadians aged 15-49. Sadly, more than 3 Canadians die every day from melanoma (>1,300 each year).

Survival is high if melanoma is detected early and unlike many cancers, melanoma is often clearly visible on the skin. Over 85% of melanomas are caused by exposure to Ultra Violet Rays (UV). By practicing 3 Ways to Block the Rays and checking your skin monthly for the ABCDE’s of melanoma and you can help prevent a melanoma diagnosis or ensure early intervention.
