Together, we can keep our
NAMI-NY family connected by providing insight, inspiration and most importantly hope.

The series features perspectives from a wide range of guests from our community including prominent figures,
NAMI-NYS leaders and general NAMI-NYS members.
Join host Matthew Shapiro as he welcomes a wide array of guests who will provide their perspectives on persevering during these uncertain times as well as what’s keeping them entertained, physically active and mentally well.

Triumphing over adversity and complicated challenges is a hallmark of the NAMI-NYS family and  Perspectives  will also explore how to take lessons learned from previous challenges and apply them to our current situation, so we don’t just withstand the COVID-19 outbreak, but by learning from each other we become stronger because of it.

NAMI News
NAMI released the Spanish-language edition of the NAMI COVID-19 Information and Resources Guide, NAMI COVID-19 Información y Recursos.

This guide addresses frequently asked questions and lists resources available in Spanish.

NAMI understands the need for culturally relevant COVID-19-related information and resources for Hispanic and Latinx communities to help support themselves and their loved ones. We recognize that vulnerable communities and those experiencing mental health conditions face additional challenges associated with COVID-19, such as social isolation and difficulty accessing treatment. The guide features a variety of topics related to mental health and COVID-19, including managing anxiety, finding online communities, getting affordable services, and more.
A Parks and Recreation Special Highlights NAMI Resources & Support
Yesterday, April 30 th , fans of the sitcom “Parks and Recreation” were treated to a reunion special in support of the charity Feeding America. The special saw the main cast members connecting via social media, including some special cameos from beloved supporting characters such as Paul Rudd.

The show addressed the need to connect in order to stay mentally healthy while remaining physically safe, and at the end of the show, star Amy Poehler emphasized the point and referenced NAMI as a resource for support during this difficult time.

COVID-19 Resources
We encourage everyone to continue practicing social distancing and other lifesaving preventive measures. And please continue reaching out and finding ways to engage with your loved ones, support systems and community members. Remember you are not alone,
NAMI-NYS and other mental health services and resources are available.

We will continue to provide numerous updated resources, information and tools to help ensure that everyone is addressing their mental health needs as we cope with the challenges posed by the COVID-19 outbreak. Learn more on NAMI-NYS COVID-19 Resource page .
