The team at NCCR decided that in honor of
Mental Health Awareness Month
, we really wanted to focus on
gratitude
. We know that gratitude is an antidepressant. As part of our “attitude of gratitude” month, we will be hand-writing letters to people in our lives for whom we are truly grateful.
What are you grateful for?
We urge you to think about your life and the people in it with gratitude, and to share!

ACT NOW for Medicare Recognition of Counselors
Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL) has introduced H.R 5531,
The Opioid Emergency Response Act
. The bill contains a seven-point plan to address the opioid crisis, one of which is lifting the exclusion of counselors from the Medicare program. Rep Buchanan is a cosponsor of H.R. 3032, our standalone Medicare bill, and he made it a top priority to have the measure included in this legislation. This legislation is a key part of the strategy of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) to get our Medicare bill included in the congressional opioid package. This is perhaps the best opportunity in years to secure Medicare coverage for counselors!
