May 2025 Newsletter

The Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council will be delivering regional Home Hardening and Zone 0 workshops in multiple areas throughout Ventura County and we want YOU to be there. In an effort to help our communities evade disasters like the Mountain, Eaton and Palisades Fires, we aim to explain how EVERYONE has a role in preparing for wildfires. New Zone 0 regulations have been enacted and more will be coming soon for folks in specific Fire Hazard Severity Zones. At these workshops, you will learn about general home hardening, what "Zone 0" means, and if it applies to you.

Note to Firewise USA® neighborhoods: these will count as invested time for your annual investment reports.

Dates, times and locations will be announced in an email and on our website in the coming weeks. Please watch for these and share with your friends and families.

See you soon!

Chipper & Fuels Program Updates

Curbside Chipper Days consist of individual residents doing their own yardwork and setting all their ready-to-chip vegetation into a neatly formed stack at the end of their driveway. On the days of the event, a crew will drive by with a chipper and chip their vegetation.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: It is resident's responsibility to sign up through our reservation link, pile properly BEFORE the event start date, and that if the event is two days and we finish all sign ups on the first day, there will be no second day.

Drop-off Chipper Events consist of VRFSC establishing a drop-off location and set time where residents can bring their cut vegetation for chipping on-site.

Start a Firewise Community in your neighborhood!

The Firewise USA® program, run by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and reviewed by CALFIRE, helps communities enhance fire safety in wildfire-prone areas. VRFSC, in collaboration with the Ventura County Fire Department, aids communities in becoming Firewise Sites. To earn recognition as a Firewise site, interested communities must complete six steps:
