Sharing our work with legislators in Sacramento at CSFC's Capitol Walk

VRFSC is honored to have been invited to participate in the Capitol Walk in Sacramento hosted by the California Fire Safe Council. Our Executive Director, Stephen Watson, had the privilege of joining over forty representatives from Fire Safe Councils and other agencies who share our mission. During this event, Stephen had the opportunity to engage with local legislators and their staff, sharing insights about our important work, highlighting challenges and concerns, and answering questions related to wildfire preparedness. Through this platform, we were able to make our voices heard and provide valuable input to help inform policy decisions. We extend our sincere gratitude to the California Fire Safe Council for providing us with this wonderful opportunity!

Ondulando Neighborhood Kicks Off

FIREWISE USA efforts!

5 years after the Thomas Fire devastated the community, dedicated members of the Ondulando Neighborhood have created a council in an effort to become a Firewise USA recognized neighborhood. The recognition demonstrates a dedication from the residents to make their neighborhood a fire-resilient community and could give residents an opportunity to be prepared for the when, not if, a wildfire happens on the Ventura hillsides.

Free Chipping Services

Santa Rosa Valley Chipper Event

VRFSC is thrilled to have hosted a Free Curbside Chipper event last weekend for Santa Rosa Valley residents. We were excited to see such active participation from the community. We estimate that residents involvement equated to about 60 hours to create brush piles ahead of the June 1st clearance deadline. VCFD Fire Control Workers chipped an estimated 70 cubic yards of total brush, and the chips were distributed in the Santa Rosa Valley County Park for soil health and water retention. That's almost 28 full size pick up trucks' worth of fuel cleared that would have posed a significant wildfire risk to the community!

Funding provided by the Regional Forest and Fire Capacity Program and the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. In partnership with the Ventura County Fire Department.

Give Back for a Bigger Impact

Please consider a contribution to our organization so that we can continue providing free services to the community and prepare as much of Ventura County as possible for impending wildfire. We are not safe until all of our communities and neighborhoods are safe. There are many homeowners and communities in Ventura County who simply cannot afford to do the work themselves; it is crucial for all of us to be able to help those less fortunate. Your support will allow us to continue providing free assessments, chipping services, brush clearance, educational workshops, and so much more. We do not take this responsibility lightly and thank you for entrusting us with your support.

VRFSC is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization and your contribution is tax deductible.
