April showers bring May flowers! Recently Earth Day was celebrated with increased awareness of our Environmental issues that surround us in Monterey County. Exploring what we can do to increase the sustainability of our land, oceans and air. We got our hands dirty at Monterey Park on April 6th for a Park Clean Up and Waste Collection Day. Other April highlights included Seaside's Community Clean Up and EV Test Drive; Earth Day Celebration on 4/28; as well as community meetings in Salinas, Sea Haven and Seaside.

In May we look forward to the flowers and turn our attention to summer preparations, roads and other repair projects as well as fireworks enforcement, etc. At a glance, mark your calendars, hope to see you at any of these events -

Celebrating Earth Day!
On April 18th we gathered at McShane's Landscape Supply to observe Earth Day 2019 with a joint mixer. What a great way to bring together organizations impassioned about our community such as Monterey Farm Bureau, Grower Shipper Association and California Women of Agriculture.

As you can see, many citizens turned out to celebrate and visit booths such as Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority to learn more about what is happening locally and what we can do to combat negative environmental issues.

Fabulous food from the Choke Coach/Flying Artichoke and brick oven pizzas were featured. Musical entertainment was provided as well.

Many auction items enticed visitors and donations and auction benefited The Veteran's Center at Hartnell College.
