COW WITH BETTER BODY CONDITION HAS STRONGER CALVING PROCESS
Under normal grazing conditions, cattle carrying more body fat are more efficient because they are more adapted to their environment, which in turn, makes them more fertile and productive.

“A cow should have a calf every year.” For most cow-calf producers this is a true statement because the cow costs the same amount of money to keep – whether or not it raises and weans a calf to sell.
BEEFMASTER HERD UPDATE
The department is very excited about the progress of the Beefmaster herd and would like to thank all of the breeders that donated high quality genetics to our program.

The donated heifers were artificially inseminated the week of April 13 and then covered with a calving ease Beefmaster bull that was also donated to the program.

100 Beefmaster embryos were also donated to the department this past fall. Transfers of these embryos into recipient cows began the last week of April.
