Greetings!

Welcome to the May e-news. This month we will be giving updates on the International Year of the Cooperatives (IYC) activities.

Please print this email and post it, or forward it to your co-workers and anyone else you think might be interested in keeping up with the US Federation.

TO THE MOON.
A documentary film of Co-Cylce's journey across America

cocycle

Last month, we highlighted Co-Cycle's tour to build support and engagement within the cooperative movement in the IYC. Now we're back to tell you that if you miss the tour, you'll be able to take a closer look at the riders, the events, and the communities that they reach. NYU students are producing a documentary film on the Co-Cycle tour entitled, TO THE MOON.

"The aim of our film is to use the lens of co-operatives to shed light on the enormous potential our generation has in bringing about effective change. Our crew of filmmakers are all working on a volunteer basis and driven by our faith in the project and the subject matter. We are currently seeking sponsors to help us make the film a reality, and I came across your website while conducting research on fundraising possibilities. I was wondering if your organization offered any assistance or opportunities to grassroots projects such as ours that have similar aims of promoting American co-ops." - Anita Gou, NYU

Interested in working with tour organizers? Check out the event cities to see if they are coming your way. You can contact Co-Cycle directly, or email sneely@usworker.coop to get involved!

Cabot Community Tour
Biking the East coast during the IYC

Join the Fun as Cabot's 2012 East Coast Community Tour Gets Underway! This two-month program honors those who give their hearts, time and skills to strengthen communities.

From May 12 to July 7, Community Tour participants will bike and ride 2,300 miles along the East Coast Greenway, making major weekend stops in cities from Florida to Maine (Miami, Charleston, Durham, Fredericksburg, Wilmington, New York City, Providence and Portland). At each of these stops, there will be free events with lots of fun and family-friendly activities as Cabot and its fellow sponsors and supporters come together to celebrate the importance of cooperatives and volunteerism.

If you live near one of the tour stops, come join the fun! And if you'd like to participate in a portion - or all - of the ride, contact the East Coast Greenway Alliance: info@greenway.org
