Sounds Like Trouble to Me - A Legal Thriller Inspired by True Stories

Join author Jean Trounstine as she shares insights about her new novel, "Sounds Like Trouble to Me", in an engaging dialogue with Angelia Jefferson, a dedicated advocate who has experienced incarceration and now works as a participatory-defense transform-harm coordinator with Families for Justice as Healing.
The novel is based on a true story about a corrections officer who kills her abusive husband and finds herself incarcerated. Shocked by the systemic abuse against female prisoners and confronted with her own past, she struggles to recall the events leading to her trial. The women she meets behind bars influence her perspective, ultimately inspiring a MeToo movement within the prison.
Jean Trounstine, an activist and professor, has written eight books and received a Gramsci award in Italy for her 30+ years of work in prison justice.

Support for Caregivers with Adult Day Care

The Medicare GUIDE Program supports individuals with dementia and their caregivers by enhancing quality of life through care coordination, education, and connections to local resources. The program also helps reduce caregiver stress by offering guidance, ongoing support, and, for eligible participants, financial assistance for respite care.
During this session, we will cover essential topics, including:
- Adult Day Services: Learn about services for adults needing supervision and how they can help both caregivers and their loved ones.
- Medicare Guidelines: Understand eligibility, coverage, and the application process for Medicare.
- Funding Opportunities: Discover financial resources available to assist with caregiving costs.
