Carver Center held an inspiring scholarship event to celebrate our

35 2025 Scholarship recipients, who collectively received $67,250 in scholarship awards. It was an occasion that acknowledged their remarkable achievements and the power of educational opportunity.

FOR ALL THE MOMS

MOTHER'S DAY FUN FRIDAY CRAFTING!

Our Elementary School Afterschool program was buzzing with

happy energy for their Mother's Day crafting event!

Children created a dazzling array of heartfelt projects and painted

small flower pots with bright colors and designs for their mothers.

MOTHER'S DAY MOVIE: A "BRAVE" SUCCESS!

On May 9th, our Afterschool program created a memorable

Family Engagement event with a special showing of Disney's 'Brave.'

From 5:45 PM to 8:00 PM, families from all four elementary schools

enjoyed a fun and cozy evening of cinematic magic, and freshly

popped popcorn and other yummy delicious snacks.

Our friends from the Milton School in Rye provided a generous donation of bilingual books and handmade bookmarks. Each family went home with a new book and a beautiful, personalized bookmark.

TINKER NIGHT SUCCESS

On May 14th, we collaborated with The STEM Alliance, to host a Tinker Night for students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Young innovators had the opportunity to dive into a world of hands-on discovery and creative exploration.

The evening sparked curiosity and building problem-solving skills through a variety of interactive activities.

We know that all of the K-2nd graders who participated enjoyed unleashing their inner inventors!

COLLEGE & CAREER FAIR: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

High school teens had the opportunity

to explore their futures at our

Annual College and Career Exploration Fair. The event successfully connected students with representatives from a wide array of colleges, universities, and vocational programs, alongside professionals eager to share insights into their career journeys. Teens were actively engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and gathered valuable information to help shape their educational and professional aspirations.

GET TO KNOW EDGAR ZEPEDA

Having supported our Teen Center programs, Edgar Zepeda's commitment to the Carver Center has now propelled him into a pivotal role as our new Advancement Coordinator.

He's not just offering support; Edgar is now a driving force behind our broader advancement initiatives, helping to fuel our mission. Furthermore, he will be instrumental in leading our volunteer operations, empowering the heart of our community engagement.

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Edgar's dedication to the Advancement team, where we know he will make a significant impact!

FROM GREENWICH TO PORT CHESTER

A huge thank you to Kathy Carley-Spanier, Director of Community Health at Greenwich Hospital, for her continued volunteer support at our Carver Market!

Her dedication is truly making a difference in ensuring our neighbors receive vital food supplies on Market days. We are incredibly grateful for her time and commitment to Carver Center and our community.

PROM READY

Prom dreams came true for our high school teens during an unforgettable shopping spree at The Sharing Shelf's Teen Boutique.

This initiative provides a boutique-style experience, mirroring a retail store. With its organized racks of high-quality, gently-used clothing, and private dressing rooms, the Boutique ensures every teen feels special and empowered as they select their perfect prom attire—all completely free of charge.

POWER UP YOUR PLATE

Our teen center members recently had the opportunity to participate in an engaging and informative nutrition workshop, expertly led by Feeding Westchester.

This session went beyond basic healthy eating, offering our teens practical knowledge and tools to make smart food choices.

Teens also sampled the delicious menu items that were prepared.
