May Newsletter

A Note From Armand

Hey Savannah! We’ve got some exciting updates:

In April, we had a blast connecting with new faces at our quarterly Food Policy Council meeting. We’re looking forward to gathering again on May 12 from 5:30–6:30 PM at the Tatemville Community Garden! Everyone is invited, and we hope to see you there.

May is High Blood Pressure Education Month, and we’re excited to announce our partnership with the Constellation Regional Learning Collaborative to help address this issue in our community. Be sure to read more about this important work we are starting below.

Lastly, take a moment to check out our partner highlights and stay informed about what’s happening across the community. And don’t forget to join us for our Healthy Walks every Tuesday at 7:30 AM and every third Saturday at 8:30 AM. Find the healthy walk schedule here.

High Blood Pressure Education Month

May is High Blood Pressure Education Month, a time to raise awareness about the importance of understanding and managing your blood pressure. Often called the “silent killer,” high blood pressure can develop without noticeable symptoms, but significantly increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Healthy Savannah is proud to partner with the Constellation Regional Learning Collaborative, a 9-month initiative focused on improving heart health across the Southeast. The collaborative has awarded Healthy Savannah a grant of $10k to support individuals living with conditions like high blood pressure.

This initiative will connect participants to structured lifestyle management programs that provide education, coaching, and resources to support healthier eating, increased physical activity, stress management, and medication adherence—helping individuals take control of their heart health.
