Essential HERS
Dear Friends,

We hope you're doing well while you shelter in place. For those of you who provide essential services, like HERS, we hope you're staying safe and healthy!

Since COVID-19 began to affect our communities, our team has been "wowed" by your giving spirit. We've received lovingly crafted cloth masks, notes encouraging us to stay strong, several donations for long-time volunteers, and a surprise grant from DiepCFoundation. Being voted a Best of Fremont nonprofit has certainly helped our morale, too!

Yet like many small, local nonprofits, we're feeling the strain of this unsettling time. The pandemic has impacted HERS significantly; our postponed People With Purpose gala has delayed critical fundraising and we've incurred expenses for protective gear and more.

Your support means everything to our patients. #GivingTuesdayNow , a day of generosity and unity -- is May 5th -- just a few days away. By giving to HERS, you'll provide low income and under-insured patients with health and dignity...

  • $50 provides a survivor with a pocketed bra
  • $64 ensures a post-surgical support camisole to aid a healing patient
  • $85 alleviates painful lymph fluid retention with a compression sleeve
  • $147 allows a patient both a compression sleeve and fingerless glove
  • $250 grants a breast prosthesis to a unilateral mastectomy patient

Ellsworth Supplies Gives Back
Our friend and donor, Joyce Tang, has been an amazing champion of HERS patients. Through her Fremont-based company, Fridaze , Joyce has donated hundreds of beautiful linen and silk clothing items which help our patients feel beautiful and comfortable.

Joyce's newest endeavor, Ellsworth Supplies, brings the same Fridaze quality to protective products, including breathable linen masks and gowns. Even better: Joyce remains firmly committed to charitable giving since HERS will receive a portion of donations for every 5 masks sold. We're so grateful to Joyce and her Team!

Artist Himani Patel
Himani Patel is a Fremont native and HERS volunteer who will soon earn her B.S. in Biology from the University of California, Riverside. We recently reconnected because Himani has chosen to meld her love of HERS with her passion for art.

Himani is raising funds for HERS Programs by selling her beautiful artwork images during the month of May. Each image is just $20.

Himani shared that "art has been cathartic" and has helped her overcome many challenges. In giving back, Himani hopes to help our patients overcome their challenges, too.

Himani has already raised $200 and hopes to raise much more. To purchase an image, email himanidpatel9@gmail.com .
