Tomorrow (November 15) is the release date for my album Mayfield. It should be available sometime around midnight Pacific time. Here's lots 'o info about it, including how to get it and what you can do to help spread the word.

The first thing you can do is click one or more of the links above to share this email with all your social BFFs. For more, read on.........

Be MAYFIELD For A Day

Help me get the word out by being MAYFIELD for the day. Make the Mayfield cover art your profile picture on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, SoundCloud, Foursquare, Turntable.fm, your blog... you get the drift... and let everyone know why. I want to see LOTS of little yellow and white squares on the Internet tomorrow! Click here to get the art in various sizes from my website.

Share The Sonic Love

Share and embed your favorite song from Mayfield directly from the Mayfield pages on SoundCloud and Bandcamp. On SoundCloud, click on the "share" button at the top left of the player. On Bandcamp, click on "Share/Embed."

Tweet 'em, Facebook 'em, email them to your friends. I have to admit I'm mildly curious to see which song(s) get shared the most. I'll report back to you on that.

A Bit About The Album

Mayfield was a band I formed after moving to New York, a couple of years into my hiatus from Tears For Fears. The premise was to not use my name (hence Mayfield: Curt-is Mayfield, get it?) and just try to rediscover the joys of music through playing live.

We played at downtown New York clubs like Brownies, Mercury Lounge and CBGB's. Those were a couple of the most enjoyable years I've spent as a musician.

The songs on Mayfield, written with my longtime collaborator Charlton Pettus, were recorded live, with overdubbing and editing used sparingly. The album was originally released in 1997, and we recorded it in just three weeks.

Besides myself on bass and lead vocals, Mayfield's members included Charlton on guitar and backing vocals, Doug Petty on keyboards, Russ Irwin on keyboards and backing vocals, and Shawn Pelton on drums. (As many of you know, Charlton and Doug have also been part of the Tears For Fears touring band since 2004.)

The album's original tracklist remains intact, in addition to which it now includes a bonus re-recording of the song "Trees." Musician Janice Whaley, known for The Smiths Project, used multiple loops of her own voice as the instrument bed for the track, to mesmerizing effect I feel, and I laid down a new lead vocal. If you already own Mayfield, don't feel that you have to buy the whole album all over again to get the bonus track. It will be for sale as a single track via digital download.

Where To Buy Mayfield

Digital

Mayfield will be available in digital format from all major online retailers, including:
A downloadable version of the Mayfield CD Booklet is on my website.

Physical CD

I understand that despite the delights of the digital music revolution, many people still prefer to own an actual CD. If you fall into that category, you'll have a few options:

1. Amazon.com will be selling a print- on-demand version of the CD. This is the only retailer that will have the CD for sale.

2. The Mayfield Deluxe Bundle will have a CD - same tracks, different packaging. The Deluxe Bundle version will have a cardboard sleeve; the Amazon version will come in a jewel box.

Mayfield Deluxe Bundle

Yes, Virginia, there WILL be a Mayfield Deluxe Bundle, just in time to give to yourself or someone you love for the holidays :). It'll have both real and virtual collectibles galore - doesn't that make you curious?! - and it will only be available from my website. I think you'll be quite pleased with it. Look for an announcement with the details very soon!
