SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP
May 2, 2021 - 10:30am
Mayflower is pleased to open more seats at our indoor Sunday services. This Sunday, we will welcome up to 60 individuals into the sanctuary (Sign-up Required - click here to make an In-Person Reservation.) We remaining mindful of the recent rise in COVID, while cognizant of the large open space available in the sanctuary. There are currently 42 spots available for this Sunday's service.
While we recommend those who attend in-person services be fully vaccinated, we recognize this is a personal choice available to those over age 16. All are welcome to attend, and we will make every attempt to seat those with children or unvaccinated adults in the lesser occupied areas of the sanctuary.
We look forward to seeing more of you in the weeks ahead as we welcome you back inside the church with care and caution. To review the safety protocols implemented, please refer to our website: https://mayflowerchurch.org/news/covid/
PRELUDE
Schmucke dich, o liebe Seele, BWV 654
by J. S. Bach

NEWS OF THE CHURCH

 SCRIPTURE READING
1 Samuel 17:1-11

INTROIT
from Psalm und Choralbuch, 1719

God himself is with us; let us all adore him,
and with awe appear before him.
God is here within us; souls in silence fear him,
humbly, fervently draw near him.
Now his own who have known God,
in worship lowly, yield their spirits wholly.

CALL TO WORSHIP
Out of the darkness of grief and despair,
Out of Goliath-sized fear,
comes a message of hope: Christ is risen.
Christ is risen, indeed.
We run to the tomb to see for ourselves,
How could this be possible?
Yet it is true. Christ is risen.
Christ is risen, indeed.
We hear a voice call our name,
and we know our risen Lord
is with us now and always.
Christ is risen.
Christ is risen, indeed.

OFFERTORY
Sacrament (from St. Matthew Passion)
by J.S. Bach
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it, and broke it,
and gave it to the disciples, and said: Take, eat, for this is my body.
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them saying
Drink ye all of it: For this is my blood of the new Testament,
which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.
But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine,
until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

O word of God, most holy, O wisdom from on high;
O truth, unchanged, unchanging, O light of earth's dark sky,
We bless Thee for the radiance, That from the hallowed page,
A lantern to our footsteps, shines on from age to age.
